Most parents want to recognize themselves (or close members of their family) in the child.

However, the lesbian pair used racism to justify for their financial demands on the sperm bank.

Hopefully they win and use the money to move to a better neighborhood. One with better educated people, perhaps.

At the base of their sexual orientation are feelings of love and lust triggered by the same sex, NOT disliking the opposite one!

Are they entitled to be pissed off that they were given the incorrect vial? Yes. When you choose a donor, you're going through medical histories, family histories, etc. They're two white chicks who live in a dominantly white community and clearly have no idea what other cultures are like. It's definitely a major learning experience on their part.

However, the arguments listed are just ridiculous. It sounds like they're looking to financially gain something out of this and are crying "stupid" to get it. The bank did its part and refunded their money. Damages? Really? Because you're some ignorant twat and feel inconvenienced about going a bit out of the way to care for your child? Holy shit omgz. Why did you have children if you think something that they have GENETICALLY is going to inconvenience you outside of your white privilege comfort zone?

Yes the sperm bank is at fault, but not to the extent that their piss poor argument claims.

To go as far and the usual suspects crying racism (because you guys keep it going the most by pointing at every little thing as being racist), I'd have to say no. This is just some sheer, embarrassing ignorance, tbh. Like someone else said, they could have given her up for adoption had they been that narrow minded. The fact that they went ahead with the birth, kept her, and have been trying says differently. I just think they're pathetically ignorant. Some white people just do not do anything outside of their own culture. I have family members like this and it's kinda stupid. But given the era they grew up in, it doesn't surprise me- lots of ignorance going on.

Other than that, lol bitch, welcome to what it feels like to be a minority. That's what I pick up most from the whole story- the whitest of white is now experiencing what a lot of minorities face daily, and they don't like it. Hope the entire thing smooths out because the kid is going to be the one who gets hurt the most in the long run.

Has anyone considered another aspect of this problem? If this sperm bank could screw up something as simple as race categorization, how many children out there are going to be born with serious genetic disorders that could have been prevented if not for gross incompetence?

All personal issues aside, this company absolutely should be sued and investigated for their business practices. These are human lives at stake.

That's why medical histories and the like are included because there could be things that the prospective parents may or may not want to worry about with their child.

So if they picked the original donor because he didn't have x medical issue, but hey, this donor might have it! Then what? Something that they tried to avoid now can be an issue and the child could be at risk because that genetic issue could clash with another genetic issue in her family.

They ARE part of a minority group by virtue of sexual orientation, just not racial minorities. Of course, that statement certainly doesn't mean to imply that gay people can't be racially-prejudiced 'cause they surely can.

Well yeah, but I'm talking about racial minorities here. You can't always look at someone and tell if they're gay or not (though with this chick, you can kinda tell). But you can look at someone and tell if they're white or not and some people will react like assholes just by looking at individuals like that, which is something neither of these chicks would come across since they're both white, which was my point. They're not being subjected to they haven't experienced before and it pushes them way out of their comfort zone, which is what a lot of this sounds like - just whining about having to do things that makes them uncomfortable. Nevermind that they could just, you know, move to an area that was more accepting of their kid. I mean really, if it bothers you enough, you'd think that'd be taken into consideration, you know?

I think the entire intent of all of it is to go after the sperm bank for being morons, but someone yanked that race card for ratings and bullshit. I really think it's less about race and more about how they got something they hadn't paid for or bargained for. I just don't know why they're waiting til she's 2 to do something about it. :/ Free monies, apparently.
