Toddler Cut as Razor Blades Found Glued to Illinois Playground
collapse story
By M. Alex Johnson
A 2-year-old boy was recovering from cuts on his hand and parents were on edge as police Tuesday tried to figure out who glued about a dozen razor blades to playground equipment in a park in western Illinois.

The razor blades were found attached with white putty to monkey bars and other equipment Monday afternoon after the boy, who wasn't identified, and his father took officers to Millennium Park in East Moline, police said. The boy's cuts weren't serious, and he was treated at home.

Police said there have been other incidents of vandalism at city parks and asked residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activities.

This reminds me of when they were finding razor blades in Halloween candy back in the 80's.

Or maybe it was in apples (candy, etc).

We couldn't eat half the stuff we got it seems because parents were paranoid (and rightfully so).

I remember that. All the healthier treats were suspect (fruit, homemade muffins, etc). Only the packaged and wrapped storebought candy was considered safe to eat lol.

Sadistic.

I was just telling someone about this (the park), and that I hope they were able to find the culprit.

She said that they were probably there when it happened-- like an arsonist has to watch whatever he has set on fire burn down.

I hadn't thought of that, but it's probably true.

Hopefully these incidents will get the kind of attention they warrant.
