I've heard of this experience from woman and I believe a man usually does this to show disinterest... turn you off. The nature of her conversation about the situation indicates that there wasn't a second date. I don't think the decision was hers. If she is traditional; expecting a gentleman to pay and expecting a gentleman to call.

However, calling her "self-entitled" is an exaggeration.
