Were Siouxsie and The Banshees popular in America?

Were the post-punk, "original Goth" British band Siouxsie and The Banshees popular in America? Is Siouxsie Sioux well-known there? They used to be one of my favourite bands but not sure if they were big in America. While I am asking, does anybody know if they were big in Japan?

I'm not from the States, but nor am I from Europe and yet I've heard of them!

They got a lot of press since they made that song for Batman Forever's soundtrack; 'Face to Face'. I looooved that song when I was a little kid/tween. Its the only song of theirs I remember quite well.
