I would feel the same way I'm sure - very sad but relieved that there was no more suffering. I read about ferrets online after I read your post. They are cool creatures.

That's sad considering the true American Pit Bull Terrier was specifically bred to be human friendly, real pit bulls make terrible guard dogs. All in their history.

These days people can't help but call their human aggressive big headed bullies pit bulls even the mutts, that's why BSL is killing dogs because people think Pit Bulls are guard dogs, or they think they have a pit bull and use it as a guard dog. News picks up "pit bull attack" and more bs comes forth.

Want a guard dog or a dog that by BREED STANDARD says weariness of humans is acceptable go for breeds created for protection. Not a breed bred for animal on animal combat which called for friendliness towards everyone strangers included, do to the close handler contact during dog matches.

I know some pits are really nice and loveable, and mine totally is to the family and people she grew up around, but I won't lie it doesn't matter how dog friendly, nice, or fearless you are she'd attack the fuck out of you if you randomly came into my house. We got her from a shitty owner way out in the sticks. She was the runt, practically starving to death, and full of worms. Probably extremely imbreed. She has had bad seizures at random points all through her life, and thought she was going to die a few times. That is likely where her aggression comes from, mental illness. Poor girl, but we give her the best life possible.
