tanya023, wtf . . . .

I was sitting there chilled to the bone for what you said because it moved me more than anything I've heard my whole life about this issue. Maybe it's the most profound thing that's been said about the word in 200 years . . .

. . and you respond like that?

Girl/boy . . . whichever . . . I wanted to come through the screen and give you a big hug and kiss for saying that the word was thought of as friends, and you would respond like that?

Wow . . I was even tempted to add afterwards about Cat, and now, Branh's posts and give them hell about it.

People will hold to their utter grudges about previous crap and overlook a statement that would be life altering if everybody in our country would adapt your interpretation of the word. But, it was skipped over, nobody saw it but me.

When you were a young'in, you thought it meant friends . . that's so powerful, much more than any other intrepretation. Just keep to fighting and don't comprehend what taney023 said . . .

. . . He/she thought Nigger meant "friends" . . . focus on that instead of a continueing battle over something that didn't even start on this thread.

taney023, I wasn't looking down my nose at you . . I was looking at you like you were on a throne. Like a christian would say, "through the mouth of a little mustard seed".

Branh: "Also, the using the N word doesn't diminish any sort of power. I'm sure the kids I see hanging out on the streets when I leave work are have no real agenda to diminish the power of the N word. If anything, the N words is simply a comfortable double standard. Don't try to make it more than it already is. I personally think its usage is stupid, which is why the word has been completely absent from my Lexicon since I left high school."

It's terribly sad to say, but me and branh are actually on the same page, no, the same paragraph. When it comes down to it, no one REALLY cares about this word disappearing, it's really quite insane to truly believe this. What honeycoe said is what (to me) is what everyone is saying, "THE 'N' WORD IS ONLY DEROGATORY AT MOST." And this is why I can't understand where any one of you are coming from. Thanks branh, I guess we're the only one's that think this word is sickening.

Sea Siren: "Have you ever asked another black person why they use the word? What did they say?"

Hey sea siren, I actually answered this question before you posted this thread. Hold up, let me copy and post...

Me: "Honestly, I just feel as if no one feels as strongly as I do about this word, like I'm hearing nonsense like "Well, I'd rather hear it from this race" or "I only say it because it sounds better or 'cooler' than this word" or the imfamous "Well, I'm black so I can say it."

These are just a few of many ignorant replies I've gotten from my ignorant minded peoples. Like I said before, I just can't understand it, and since power is in numbers, I guess I have no choice but to tolerate this...the word will not die, I'm just sharing my feelings about this word. The blood of racists will always run through our vanes, even if we were blind, because we will then judge people not by their color, but their smell, size, voice, or whatever. It doesn't matter, it's just that it suprises me how people can use this word knowing this word was used for superiority over blacks...

BD56,

You and Branh are not the only ones who think the word is sickening. I am older than you guys, and we NEVER, EVER, used this word as a part of our daily lexicon when I as was growing up; not unless you were looking for a beat down. It was quite commonly used during slavery amongst other slaves, because they repeated whatever the "massa" called them. It was never acceptable back in my day; we never used it jokingly. It was until Richard Pryors' concerts, albums, movies and TV shows did blacks dare to say it publically. You couldn't avoid it because that's all people talked about the next day. "Did hear what Richard said? That n... really is crazy!" Richard Pryor was given a contributor's credit for the movie "Blazing Saddles" so Mel Brooks could use the word in the movie. Different generation, different meaning.

Now, it's unfortunate Branh doesn't think Blacks have any culture, and I won't even bother to address this since it's madness. So, I just want to post a quote from one of my all time favorite artist Tom Waits.

"Without spiritual and the Baptist Church and the whole African-American experience in this county, I don't know what we'd all be drinking from. It's in the water. The impact the whole black experience continues to have on all musicians is immeasurable."

Eliza and Honeycoe,

I understand what you are all saying about usage, acceptance...on and on. It doesn't seal your fate. But, it's quite a different thing when you have an understanding and experience with a word, then it morphs into something else, something completely foreign to you. It's a matter of adjusting. All I am saying is I will never feel comfortable with the casual usage of this word, just as I am not comfortable with women being called ho's and bitches. Now, I have jokingly said amongst my female friends "Hos before Bros" when it comes to female solidarity, but I don't use if often.

LOL!!! I heard some women actually take those two words as a *compliaments*. Not in a sarcastic way, but they actually like bing called those two words.

I hear rappers call the women these two words quite often ... more often then in other music genres. Also, I hear men on the street call women these names and you should see the way their eyes light up

For heaven sakes!

Honeycoe: "So, Get at me!!! I got plenty rebuttals for anyone wanting to bring out the big, red sword!!!!"

*Sigh* I've already used my red sword, and I've been defeated in battle before I've even swung my sword...I guess this topic is overrun with people who agrees with racial slurs, so I guess this is the wrong place for me to place my opinions...no one tries to AT LEAST understand.

honeycoe: "Brahn is a very intelligent black person with stores of knowledge on many topics"

WRONG!! Actually, the reason why I was soo suprised that our opinions were the same was because he actually created a topic ignorantly placing that all blacks are garbage and we use interracial dating in means to leech from our partners!! Read up on it and your opinions about this man will change in a heartbeat. Also, you still don't understand me, all this time I said the 'N' word with the 'er' at the end, nigga and the 'N' word are two COMPLETELY different words! The ignorance of my black people slanging this word sickens me, and if you don't agree with this, we aren't on the same page. Listen to Catfish36, this person has the firsthand knowledge of how serious this word truly is. (I'm sorry catfish36, I didn't agree with him saying we didn't have a culture, only his opinions on the 'N' word)

What?! Eliza, you know I'm open for debating, I don't think this is being mean, but I just want everyone to see the other side of things. This is what I've been talking about, everyone thinks this word is a trend, but I have relatives who remind me constantly that this word brings back pain they left soo many years ago. Everyone here will never understand the TRUE pain this word brings, because we've been born into freedom. Even me, I'm acting as if I understand the true pain of this word, but really, I don't even know the half. I understand you all also, at least about how you'd rather have your own race call you this, but I feel totally different. Cappysweetie is soo true when she said how these girs are PROUD, literally ESTATIC to be called a 'ho' or 'biach', and that's where I can't understand. Please, let me know if you like to be called a 'ho', because this is just like as if you calling me a 'n'!

LOOK! People have lost their lives and fought courageously for the right NOT to be called a Nig.....

Not just my right, but everybody on this booard's right to be treated equally, without discrimination, recrimination and respect. That goes doubly for women. I got two words for ya'll...JASPER, TEXAS. Racism is alive and will continue to thrive as long people keep silent.

Sorry to be preachy, but there it!

Branh: "Stupid, ghetto bound, wellfare check receiving, ghetto trash use the word"

*Sigh* There you go, proving to me once again that you love to flaunt your ignorance through DXP. I, mister I'm greater than everyone, was acutally born and raised in the ghetto, lived off welfare up until I graduated from high school, and yes, these soo called truly stupid "greater people" would call someone like me "ghetto trash". But look at me now buddy, I live on my own and doing quite well coming up from literally nothing. I came from the ghetto and I HATED this word! I still live near the projects, and I've NEVER took pride in calling someone the 'n' word unless I truly wanted to hurt their feelings! I'm not stupid, and no one I know in the ghetto is stupid either. If you know soo much about us, you would know this. We have great potential, and our drive keeps us alive even in the worst situations. Please, in my eyes you need to experience certain situations to truly understand. Reading them in books ain't even the half, my intensively STUPID friend.

Catfish is on the mark again, exactly what I've been saying all along, DISCRIMINATION WILL NOT DISAPPEAR EVER!!! As long as I am black and you are white, as long as I'm tall and you're short, there will always be racism! Ignorance plagues the world, and this will always be a fact. This goes for me, also. This 'n' word will remain in the mouths of all who are ignorant until the end of time. Period.

You're right honeycoe, but I try to learn people who doesn't know. It's not that I'm angry, I'm just more suprised at how stupid a human being can be. Certain things that you learn in life cannot be found in books, or out the mouths of the experienced, but the experience that YOU personally have lived through! If you want to kick knowledge into people, at least have the true EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE of it before having an opinion about it!

This goes along with the 'n' word. Like I've been saying before, no one on this board knows the TRUE pain of this word, only the ones that was halfway beat to death being called the 'n' word truly knows of this type of pain. We do not have the EXPERIENCE, so our opinions of this word are all coming from IGNORANCE. Everything we know about this word was all coming from books or out the mouths of the experienced.

This may be true, but I'm showing my 'white' peoples that with my eye, people get hurt saying this. Honeycoe, this is where we can't agree. This may be because of the area we live in or the attitude of the black people you know. Cuz just last saturday, a group of drunk white people was calling a couple of other black people 'dirty 'n'' after the club and got beat with liquor bottles. Things like this happening around me are common, so I guess it's all where you say it...
I normally post on the Virgo board but here I am.

I've been seeing a Virgo guy for over a year now & just recently out of the blue he went back to his Pisces girlfriend, for the 3rd time in about 2 years!!

Capricorn women along with other women and men of the zodiac suffer from low expectations of themselves.

However, when you look in the mirror ... what do you see and enjoy about yourself ?

Regardless of how I feel about my self, I

I think the reason why Pisces is very inactive in life matters is not because he or she is not aware of reality, but the opposite, they are very much aware of reality and simply don't want to deal with it.

Why? Because every time when I start som
