I admire my son for his convictions in fairness and equality for all... by the same token, he refuses to vote in this election (his first) because he views the system as corrupt and despises the fact the US has come down to a 2 party system in which, in general, the parties are more about money, power and fame rather than the good of the people - although, he considers Obama the better of the 2 and not a man focused solely on his own notoriety, he believes Obama is trying but recognizes the struggle he faced when elected given the hand he was dealt; he views Romney as a farce, as someone who is not for the people, not for bettering America, someone who is only in it for himself. My son is so smart 🙂

Libertarian Libra here.... I've never been able to submit to the left vs right way of thinking, and i find it especially annoying when political candidates act like professional wrestlers for the WWE.

The Right = regulate almost everything, enforce religious-based morality, endless war, and force people to sacrifice their paychecks to help pay for it all.
The Left = regulate absolutely everything, disallow self defense, disallow private property, welfare and state dependence, endless war, and force people to sacrifice their paychecks to help pay for it all.

I can't support either brand because it revolves around a government of theft and force in order to leech off the people, while telling us what we can or can't do.

If we have to have a government at all, it should only be there to protect the natural rights of its citizens when those natural rights are attacked.
But the only way we could have a good/efficient government looking out for us is if we only elect 'just the right people' into positions of power... And that requires a lot more faith than believing in a loving God to take care of us, honestly.

My beliefs don't fit any party or group. I believe in the rights and liberties of the individual weighed against the good of the whole. I honestly would like some form of utilitarianism or communism but they won't work. They should but they don't. Corporations are a joke, the federal reserve system is criminal, and it don't matter if you vote democrat or republican because they're both gonna bend you over the table.

I don't think we should legislate taste or preference but that's what the real difference between liberal and conservative are. Stuff the government shouldn't be messing with anyway. Why do you care if two gays want to marry? No one cared when I married either of my ex wives, what difference would it have made in your life had they both been men? None? Then the government should stay out of it.
I think every person on this earth should have food, medicine, and a warm bed. I think that as we automate our jobs, people should just have to work less. Why does all the benefit of mechanization go to the corporation? A corporation isn't even a real entity, it is a group of rich people! In any country, look at the gap between rich and poor... why? Is one person really more valuable than another?
I think all political offices should have term limits and I think candidates should be chosen like jury selection. It is supposed to be a government of the people by the people and for the people... we don't have any of those. Our government is of itself, by itslef, and for itself. Select average people, let them get on tv and debate... I would probably participate in our electorial process then.

I am more liberal than conservative. Conservatives like to stick their nose in too much stuff. I identify more with libertarians though, live and let live. The whole right wing v left wing thing gets old quick, there's got to be a balance... how's that for a Libra comment?

Really? Because in case you haven't noticed the increasingly invasive, regulatory, nannying nature of most Western govts... the left has been much more ardent and much more successful at sticking their noses in other people's business. While some on the very religious right would love to impose their own tyrannies, they have been terribly unsuccessful compared to the Socialist, Nanny-state Left.

I guess the conservative nose sticking would be stuff like their anti-gay stance, anti-cigarette, anti-marijuana... I don't like people who try to force religion on you and that's how conservatives make me feel because their reasoning for not liking things is that it is sin. That's cool, you shouldn't do it then. My god doesn't call it sin, get off my back. Now I didn't say I was a leftie either, while I support social assistance programs I think many of them need reworked. I don't want a nanny government no matter which side it is watching from.

Like I said, libertarian. My rights end where your face begins. I really think some people need to go get laid, smoke a little smoke, or something... so they stop being grumpy bitches trying to rule everyone else's lives haha.
