Obama on executive action for gun control?

Honestly, can he do such a thing and make the bill pass? Is it within his legal powers to be able to do so? Does this violate the idea of checks and balances?

It's not a bill. It's an Executive Order.

Government by fiat. It's not a right. It's whatever he can get away with.

It's for the greater good. How is owning guns a safer option? Having no guns anywhere at all would be safer...

I'll help you out.

1. NO matter how many "gun control" laws there are, the criminals will still get guns.

2. Fact: the areas of the US with the strongest "gun control" laws also have the highest number of gun crimes.

3. Fact: the areas of the US with more gun owners and a greater protection of the 2nd amendment right have fewer crimes using guns.

4. As a woman who has taken the NRA's gun safety class, passed the conceal and carry class and goes to a shooting range every month to practice, I have a much better chance of protecting myself than someone like you who thinks you are safe when some bad dude tries to steal from you or assault you. Add to that equation, kids, and the ONLY thing between you and getting killed etc. is knowing how to use your gun and take the intruder out.

5. While there are gun accidents at home involving family members on occasion, the majority of the time gun owners as myself take measured steps to keep guns locked up and away from kids. You own a gun, you have a level of responsibility to implement measures that protect others from accidents etc.

With that said, those who think as you do and as Obama/Hilltary do want to undermine my right to own a gun to protect myself and my family; what do you and Obama and all liberals against the 2nd amendment do about the violent crime in cities as Chicago? The numbers of gangs killing each other is insane. Where's the outrage? They are killing each other with guns. Oh that's right....Chicago has very stringent gun laws and they are working so effectively.

"For the greater good...." wow, you sound like a Saul Alinsky disciple.

"Having no guns anywhere at all would be safer...." You really think so? The founders of this nation knew that the ONLY thing between tyranny and liberty was the right to own arms and protect yourself and your family. Gun control is not the answer. If you knew your history, you would know that the countries where people had their guns forcefully taken from them were eventually slaughtered by their own governments.

We'd all love to live in an Utopia as you obviously believe in. But that's not reality. It never will be reality.

And then there's the hypocrisy of those who preach and push "gun control" on the rest of us who support the 2nd amendment. Some of the loudest opponents of owning a gun have their own protection services who pack a gun. It's the elitist way.
