I always keep my phone unlocked when in a relationship. Normally women give me their pattern, password, or pin to their phone, but I pretend like I never remember it when they let me use it. I like to act dumb at times, just to see a persons true intentions. If they don't give it to me and seem too secretive, I eventually end up guessing it from their finger prints on the screen. Going to an extreme I could simply get them extreamly drunk and use their own finger to open it when they pass out. If it honestly had to come to that. I'm pretty good at unlocking phones without the extra mile though.
Besides there is no reason for me to keep mine locked. I would never chat with someone with intentions on getting really close to them in a while relationship. And anything really private or something potentially secret exposing would be acknowledged in private, then deleted.

He leaves his phone unlocked and around me all the time.
When he gets up and showers in the morning its on the bedside table. Sometimes I go through it, done that a few times over the years.
But knowing its there if I wanted to snoop...kinda kills all desire to snoop.
For the record he has my password and my phone is left around him as well. Fairs fair.
