I thought in the past that I had found it. But it was young love. Very immature.

Now I would say:

Love is not listening to reply, but to truly listen. Recognizing what is needed and being there for that person. It's not about what you did or they did, it's not keeping score, but doing things because you love that person. Allowing the other person to understand what you need as well. Removing any walls built and letting that person in. (Because we all have them, whether they stem from family, past relationships, or our own insecurities.)

To live life together. That includes laughter, adventure, but more than anything forgiveness. Because no one will ever be perfect. They will never do exactly what you want them to. It's what makes us human. But if you are able to truly forgive that person and they are able to truly forgive you, then life with them will always feel like home. It will show that you love/accept them for who they are, including their flaws. (And vice-versa).

In real love, it's the little things every day that matter, not the big grand gestures of love.

Sacrifices are made, but they are not overwhelming. They are every day little moments where you make the decision to do what is best for your life together.
