would you lie to get someone's attention, or more importantly for ulterior motives? when today it is easy to hide behind the firewalls of the internet, would you project something/someone you are not to build a relationship with someone? you see so many fraud profiles everywhere, i am talking about dating kind of sites. what's your motive behind lying, if you do, and how do you plan to explain if you ever have the intention of meeting that person in person? some people's pictures even look like they are photoshopped or something and they might not even be their pictures. why would someone go to the extent of creating a fake identity of some non-existent person?

Well as far as this site goes, you can post what you really look like to an individual site or once you get to know someone you can send then a pic thru email. If your planning on never meeting up with anyone then who cares but when you know you ate trying to find a date, I don't understand the point in this. People should look like their profile, period. There are men and women that take pictures from different angles but as long as they sent me numerous pictures I wouldn't mind if they looked slightly different.

My point is, I have no clue why they lie if they have every intention of meeting a person. Some people are delusional

because they are afraid that the truth might make them run away

some people hope that their love interest will look past all that and fall in love with their personality, as oppose to their phsyical attributes when they first meet

my brother met his wife online. i believe she lied to him, lied about her age, lied about how she looked. she isnt even ugly, she's a pretty girl with a kick ass personality..but she felt like she had to lie for some reason

but they did meet up, and they did fall in love, and they both came clean

granted their beginning isnt a very solid foundation for a relationship, but they worked out the kinks

Did she pretend to be ugly or what? Because that still would work for her. I always am very humble when I meet men. It gives them something to be surprised about instead of already having high expectations.

no she pretended to be older. she has a very baby face, and she is a southern belle i guess you could say. the picture she sent was someone who had similar physical characteristics when it came to hair, eye, skin color...but she was older and projected sexiness...where my sister in law projects innocence and cuteness. so it was like her opposite...she probably thought thats what my brother wanted

what my brother wanted was fidelity and trust. looks didnt really matter to him, and ive seen his past girl friends...they looked like ogres.

And yes my photos are "photo shopped" because they are modelling pictures, I model so of course my pictures
are touched up but it's all me just with enhanced lighting and a skin clearing program used on them.

I'm not assuming you're talking to me but if you'd like I could add one of my normal everyday pictures of myself
without any photo shopping.

harry99, you are gorgeous 🙂 and even your pictures shout honest. and no i was not talking about you 🙂. in fact, wasn't talking about DXPers either. we are mostly here to learn/understand from others. was talking about profiles on dating, match sites etc. where you are showing intent of finding 'the one'. and maybe photoshop was not the right word, i should have said fake pictures, posting pictures of someone else as you.

That does seem kind of silly to pretend to be someone else knowing that you may have to show up as yourself some day. Sounds like some self-loathing issues to me.

I'm just happy I have the same b-day month and day of Cher apparently Cusp Of Energy people never really get old per
say so hopefully I'll never get that whole "omg I'm old aaaahhh" complex that alot of women seem to get i.e. Demi Moore
and Madonna and J Lo I mean seriously they have kids why can't they just accept their age and move on with life.

J.lo looks good but as far as demi and madonna go. They need to gain about 10 lbs so their skin won't look so wrinkled. Black women age pretty well anyways because of the melanin in their skin. Look at Angela Bassett and Tina Turner. They are both slim but their skin doesn't hang from their bodies like the two mentioned above.

Asians and indians age well too.

good thing about DXP, you do not have to pretend to like or be nice to anyone hahaha, unlike facebook.

True. But on facebook if you don't like something you can just log off.

On DXP I'm convinced they've removed the log off button from my sight.

haha, but on facebook sometimes you can feel pressure to respond to important announcements/postings, sometimes you do not want all that info about someone. maybe men are different, they can just ignore, but women can get emotional/upset over not getting comments on their life updates haha. but i must agree DXP can become addictive, there are always interesting posts, and you will almost always find answers to something you are looking for or to afraid to ask.

speaking of facebook...have you guys ever given out your facebook to anyone here?

i indirectly gave it to someone here...it was kind of like a confirmation that this person existed...

I would give ot to someone if I thought I knew them well enough. Like after I've been on this site for a while and had a good sense of who they were. That would give me enough time to create a fake Facebook profile and accumulate some friends...... muhahahaha!!! 😛

haha it does take a whole lot of trust. they are getting a glimpse at the real you and your friends , and your real name and everything.

I block my friends from everyone. I hate trolls that look through your list and randomly add people who they know or don't know. I make it easier for everyone. Lol yeah I feel you about the real name and all. A lot of my friends have first and middle names due to companies checking to find your Facebook page. People can get fired over it sometimes.

I do like how people have posted what they look like in certain boards or even put up a real picture for a day like Tizzi. — ( have I been here long enough to call you that yet 🙂 )
It puts a face to a name and it's nice to see even if it's brief.

Of course you may call me whatever you like. 🙂 Some say Tiz, some Tizi.

I would have kept the picture up but it simply didn't match my mood. If I could get a picture of me anxiously smoking a cigar tomorrow that would be up there. It's just how I feel about work right now. Going well, but making me nervous.

I'm doing well harry but I'm about to sleep in a minute. And frankly there's so much going down on the boards tonight it's too much for me. Luckily all of it good though.

Yeah the tag stuff is annoying. So is the whole automatic photo-recognition on mobile phones nowadays. It has been several years now since I lost my patient with people that want to go out socializing purely to pull out the digital cameras and document it all on facebook.

Not even just for the privacy but also because 1. we're not celebrities, no one cares 2. What happened to putting the camera down and just having a good time?

Yeah I agree. I'm always the one that forgets the camera and my page looks boring as hell.

On a side note, why are you feeling tired and worn down with the good things going on in the threads? Or did I read that wrong?

seems like instead of having a good time, we are busy trying to build a portrait of a good time. i mean i have seen it happen to myself, where i am on vacation and instead of the place, i am thinking about having everything captured for later. haha and i might not even upload the pics, but it is important that i have a digital vacation more than a physical one, just in case. well, if that pushes me to take more vacations, works for me 🙂 i do enjoy my free time though, esp going to the beach.

You have to watch out for those promoters. They carry those cameras with them and if they know one of your friends u are doomed. My friend made a mistake by giving my FB name to the guy and now I can't remove it

i think there is a setting in the privacy feat. for that...or you can always block them.

i always have to be asked for my pics to be tagged, other wise all my coworkers and docs im friends with will see a string of intoxicated pictures of myself

I couldn't find the block feature and I emailed them few times to remove it, its still there ughhh

You can always click "hide from my timeline" if it's on your page. Then no one will see it. I actually have my privacy settings notify me when someone tags a photo but now it doesn't work when people put your name in the post. Annoying as hell. I had someone put up a busted picture of me cause they looked cute and she had the nerve to write my name and ask if I remembered this back in the day. Fucking asshole!

Oh no I'm feeling anxious with work. It's a time where what I've been knocking down doors for for the last 3 months... I've finally got my hands on. So it's time to take it to the next level. And it's on me. That's all.

That's what the picture is about, smoking a cigar to enjoy my victory while succeeding in making my life twice as hard lol

Haha no that picture is of Jeremy Piven. I was explaining why I took down my actual picture that was up for a day (I had another one up and women would message me to ask why I took down Paul Newman... what are they trying to say?? 😛 ) for this Piven one just because it reflects my mood. If I had a cigar and a friend with a camera tomorrow I'd be in it instead.

People are attracted to all types. You see ugly with cute, ugly with ugly, and cute with cute. You just have to take a chance. I don't think anyone that pretends to be cuter than what they are should think about lying. It only leads to failure and depression. What did they think would happen.

oo yes! what about twitter? aren't people going crazy over twitter these days. So many people I know have it

I don't like twitter, telling someone when your going to the bathroom, walking into a store, eating at a restaurant, all of that minute to minute shit is dumb. That gives a stalker all that they need. Someone can rob you because they know your location. It's way too personal for me. I even check into places on face book after I am done and leaving.

Harry is my fellow TnT islander 🙂

I'm just watching people sign up for Survivor and having a private chat. Nothing special.

Dwayne Johnson/The Rock is a Taurus legend though. Definitely reps for your team.

helle yeah and our other Taurus super hero Channing Tatum just showed up. So survivor's on tonight?
or do you mean in person

I haven't watched it in years I just lost touch with it. I used to love Survivor though awesomest butter ever

I don't know about Survivor the tv series. I know what it is but I don't know the rules. Anyway DXP has their own version of Survivor going on right now in Miscellaneous

i don't know about the tv survivor's or the misc. survivor's. in my eyes we are all survivor's, if we can stay unaffected (enlightened maybe) by DXP.
