I don't think it is at all .. only intimacy .. however, people associate the two as being one-in-the-same .. and it's not.

Sex is great and fun .... but, it's the cuddling into each others necks afterwards, basking in the glory that this person is holding you tight and is accepting of all your attributes, expressing how special you are and that they could spend the rest of their lives just like that .... that the heart yearns for.

A person could have the best lay in the world and still feel alone in this world without intimacy of the heart.

A person could be with a terrible lover with an awesome, tender soul who makes you feel valuable and wanted .. and feel content in this world.

you're both right. both sex and intimacy are important. which one is more important depends on the couple's preference. if you have both then hit a jackpot!!!!
