Is it a strange pattern or just a preference?

Have you ever been with someone who had an ex who looked like you? Was it just because of the "type" that the S.O. liked (blonde, brunette, etc), or was the similarity so eery it made you wonder "what the hell?? Is THAT why they're with me??"

Well my experience was that a few months back, I had gotten a glimpse of my ex's ex that was a couple of girls before me. THE big relationship that he was still recovering from a few years after the fact (had only dated briefly a couple of times after that relationship). The one he wanted to marry, she said no, etc. etc.

The similarity to what she looked like and what I look like shocked the hell out of me. Needless to say, I was creeped out a bit. I know he has a preference for brunettes, but this was beyond hair color. Explained a bit though. :/

I had a coworker who had been caught up on that ONE girl he screwed things up with and was regretting it. In the meantime, he chased another coworker who looked almost EXACTLY like the chick he was caught up on. I was like wooow. Cause that isn't obvious or anything...

I think when it's more than hair color/height, like facial structure is even about the same, it makes you wonder why someone is really with you. I get it when people are into a specific height, hair color, build, etc. But when it's a little beyond that, like "I'm into someone who looks just like that one ex that ________ happened with" or "they look like mom/dad (even creepier)," then wooow. :/

Personally, I've been attracted to all sorts of types. Varying builds, hair color, ethnicities, etc. If anything, I'd think if someone reminded me of THAT one person... I'd run away. NO MORE REPEATS.

I don't mind repeating a pyshicial look because physical is pointless it's the mental that I won't find myself repeating.

A (Gemini) ex of mine dated a clone.

Actually, the girl after me was a friend of mine, a semi-clone.. we were VERY similar in looks and personality. (She and I stayed friends the whole time - not *close* friends, but friendly, and talked occasionally. He and I only spoke once after our breakup, really. Well, one phone call, and one email many years later. *shrug*) Anyway.. they were together for several years, married and had a son. But eventually split up and then divorced. Let's call her Lana.

During the divorce, while Gemini was dropping off their son, Lana looked at the woman waiting in the car.. and did a double-take. She gasped and said, "OMG.. when did you and Nefer get back together? When did she move back to CA?! She didn't tell me, I thought she would have told me!" And Gemini gets red-faced, and hard-faced and says through gritted teeth, "That's NOT Nefer. That's Lisa." Lana laughed and said, "It is NOT.. I'm looking at her. That's Nefer." He hisses, "NO, it's NOT. It's LISA!".. and then his own Mom steps out on the porch and chirps up, "Hi son.. wow.. you got back with Nefer? Why is she sitting in the car? Why doesn't she come say hi? Wait.. she's back from Michigan?! Tell her to come in." And she starts motioning the woman (Lisa haha) to get out of the car and come in.. Gemini freaks out, pushes his own mother's arm down and spits out very angrily, "That. Is. NOT. Nefer. It's. Lisa. STOP. IT." What a scene haha! Can you imagine?! He leaves, extremely agitated and frustrated with both his ex-wife and his mother.

That's when Lana called me, told me to look something up on the WWW, gave me the address of a page. She wouldn't tell me what it was for, just insisted I look it up right then, with her on the phone. I do.. and it's a profile page of a woman, with a LOT of pictures posted.. I start sputtering, wanting to know what it was.. Lana is laughing, insisting I tell her what I think. I finally manage to ask her if this is some kind of joke, or a fake profile, or is this the page of some crazy woman posting MY pictures as her own, and WTF? Lana laughs even harder, and tells me it's Gemini's new woman, Lisa -- and tells me about the confrontation that just happened between she and Mom and Gemini about the woman in the car. I look closer at the photos.. damn, if they don't look like ME, for real! Many photos taken in the house Gemini and I lived in, unmistakably. Not any pictures I really REMEMBER seeing, and it had actually crossed my mind that maybe there had been an undeveloped roll or two of 35mm film left in CA or something. I truly thought at first glance that they were pictures of ME, they fooled ME! But no.. they were pictures of a woman named Lisa.. and she could literally be my identical twin sister. With bigger boobs - the ONLY difference I could really pick out upon closer inspection. o.O (Hope she doesn't murder anyone on surveillance camera.. *I* might get arrested!!)

Now, Gemini was once married, before me.. to a woman who looks an AWFUL lot like both Lana and I (Or is that.. both myself and Lana look an awful lot like his first wife and high school gf?! lol). And looks like Lisa, obviously. And though Lisa and he split up eventually.. his current woman (and mother of his second son - that news was in the only email I ever got from him after our breakup)? Another semi-clone. Line up the FIVE of us women.. you'd laugh. You'd KNOW that man is most definitely attracted to a certain "type".. pretty brunettes.. beautiful, slightly exotic eyes, full lips.. petite, curvy figures. Something about all five of us is very, very similar.

Okay, to be fair.. the woman between the first wife and me.. she was brunette, but that's where the similarities to the rest of us end. She was very, very tall for a woman, much more voluptuous than the rest of us, and had shocking, ice-blue eyes. Well, pretty lips, though. But she WAS a girlfriend that veered off the beaten path, even if only slightly. lol

@Nefer/Lana, Muhahahahahahaa.

Although the Taurus and I didn't date, there was a mutual attraction there and I did find it odd that me and his ex shared the same Dec. 23rd bday and have a few if the same placements. She has a VinScorpio like me and he has a Cancer Mars. It made me wonder if he was seeking out someone a bit like her. Also weird is he said they just stopped talking, which is how they ended, and we ended whatever that was going on in the exact same way. When id get him to talk about her i realized he still had a few not-so-good emotions tied to her. Hopefully since we didn't date we'll be cordial if we ever bump into eachother again.

As far as look, I did think that we looked a bit similar and our style of dress was a bit similar. Before he started being comfortable enough to talk to me he'd watch from afar and even easedrop on my conversation s with others. I think that was his Cancer Mars starting to sense familiarity because he quickly became real comfortable.

I'm talking about physical features though, not astrology.

I think the question that comes to mind is that when they date people prior to you, you can't help but wonder if they're with you because they like you, or because you reminded them of the ex and they're reliving that relationship via you.

None of my bf's exes look like me at all. Most of mine though do have similar physical features. But since their personalities are all different, I chalk it up to having a preference for a certain physical type.

As far as seeing if one of my X's new guy looks like me im never around. I have seen people that looked like one or two of mine just never dated them.

i guess the guys i mess with dont physically look the same, but they all have the same personality. douches, young actin, money hungry.
