What about before that moment amethyst - because that obviously WAAAY OVER the line.

Where is The Line? What is the red flag that lets you know they will become that way -

I dated a guy who liked to suggest that I dress differently - I thought that was controlling but he was never jealous.

I am dating a guy who is friends with an ex-boyfriend of mine and has now on two occasions pressed me for details regarding our sexual life. I think this is jealousy and it makes me very uncomfortable.

Haven't talked to him about my sex life more than he needs to know - esp. since we are not sexually active together right now.

My first thought was that jealousy stems mostly from insecurity. That quote sounds like it is both.

A small amount of jealousy is healthy... a very small amount.

Jealousy also tends to feed off itself. I think anyone has the potential to be that over the line jealous person if the relationship devolves into that. Small issues should be addressed before they grow into big ones.

WELL THIS IS A TRICKY SUBJECT B/C EVERYONE'S VIEW OF JEALOUSY IS NOT THAT IT'S A RELATIONSHIP THREAT. FOR EXAMPLE, ALOT OF WOMEN/MEN IN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS SEE JEALOUSY AS A SYMBOL/SIGN OF LOVE MORESO THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

I DON'T THINK JEALOUSY IS AS BIG A PROBLEM THE WAY HOW SOMEONE ACTUALLY REACTS TO IT IS. SOME PEOPLE CAN'T KEEP THEIR JEALOUSY UNDER CONTROL. And then there's always the people who are naturally jealous, even if the other person gave them no valid reason to be & THOSE kinds of people with those kinds of mindsets often have very toxic & emotionally dramatic/short-term relationships.

It's one thing to see your man flirting with another girl & out of embarrassment & feeling disrespect, say something to him. Sure, you might look jealous by confronting him about it, BUT at the same time it's understandable too b/c every woman/man is entitled to make sure the lines/boundaries of respect are in place at all times.

HOWEVER, it's another thing to be watching a movie with your mate (for example) & one partner get jealous b/c of how their partner is lusting over someone on a tv screen. In some instances, jealousy is easily aroused by the other person's actions, BUT not in all cases. It's no different than with insecurity. Some people are naturally insecure for whatever reasons, meaning their partner is damned if they do, damned if they don't.

It's all in a person reacts to their feelings of jealousy. And in whatever the reason for it, effective communication with your partner & the ability to manage & effectively discuss your feelings is VERY important
