And communist (atheists who squelched all religions) dictators have killed millions. The Greco-roman democracies did not include all people in their 'democracy' & they had slaves. Christians have killed, maimed (let's not forget the Spanish priests who cut off limbs from native Americans for not believing) & enslaved as well.

Well, we all are a sordid bunch aren't we? I have atheist friends I would entrust my life to. Because they share my values & morals. We can debate the origin of those values but to me, it only matters that they are 'good' people who try to live a good life just like the 'good' Christians, Muslims, Jews, Protestants, Humanists, etc... I only want the freedom to believe in my 'Santa Clause' and I will not infringe on your 'non-belief'. Your so-called eternal judgment is not in my hands anyway and to pass one is blasphemy according to my beliefs. See, we are not all what you see in the media. Fundamental freaks, bombing abortion clinics & protesting against gay rights.

My belief is personal and I only wish that it is respected as it holds a specific importance to me. And I will in turn respect your belief.

Can't we all just get along? 🙂

"Can't we all just get along?"
As long as people feel their religion (or govt.) gives them dominion,
the answer will be no. History bears that out.

We are now again involved in a "holy war".
Think about those two terms together....

I view the fascist and communist dictatorships
as an extreme reaction against hundreds of years
of religious-based terror. The dark ages finally ended.
It was good for a while.. the age of reason, but
The pendulum kept swinging. Unfortunately people where not ready and
governments became "secular religions" with religious-like symbolism
and cult-like, group-think behavior. Their gods were simply men.

I envision a world where people are not sheep and do not
sacrifice each other or their children like lambs. Where
people are not born with original sin, women are not 'somehow
sort-of evil' and people actually learn to think and reason with each
other as individuals.
