"like" simply is the opposite of "dislike".
"love" is a "two-dimensional linear system" which I am studying now for one of my math class.
Is that amazing? We can use mathematical model to analyze such un-describable "love"...
I am glad I am in math major now π
Very interesting thread Lucky!!! hmmmmmmmmm.............I'll be interested to see what people say. I personally think there is a big difference in 'like' and 'love'. You can 'like' many people but only 'love' a select few people important to you.
It's very interesting bringing Math into the equation....
.........but then again, to really love somebody you have to really like them........

I think love is free flowing and not an " emotion " as they way people put it.
Like is a feeling.
From my perspective ,
If you can explain why you "love" someone then its not called love .Its called "like"

True!!!
"love" is a kind of feeling from our heart, which is "undescribable" in any language...which may cause extreme pain in heart...π’ Don't you dare to try once or more? π
"like" always makes us feel comfortable with someone who is "harmless".....called as "friendly" π
After studying the case of "Love Affairs"......I think it really makes sense in a logical way..... π
Take a look at the details @ http://ouchmath.wordpress.com/2011/03/29/romeo-juliet-nonlinear-dynamics/

i would have to insert "cool" then like then love.
when a man is cool with me, its just that. strictly platonic.
when i like a man, i am digging something about him and i want to sleep with him. There have been many of these.
when i love a man. its like WHOA. i am utterly obsessed with him and only him.

Good point about "cool"!
But I found that it is very hard to keep a single man being "cool" all time...while I only want "platonic"... π

Sometime...it is confusing...
Are there exact definitions for the distinct two feelings? What do you think?
