Took this picture from a museum in Europe. [Bachman 1602]- Silver, Pearls, Garnet, and Wood

Exotic, wind-up sculptures were all the rage in the 1600s and 1700s. Aristocrats pulled them out to impress their friends at dinner parties.

This one depicts Diana, goddess of the hunt, atop a Centaur. She's holding two hunting dogs on a leash. During a banquet, the host would remove the Centaur's head to fill the cavity with wine. Then he or she would crank the device's key. Diana and the Centaur would then moved across the table; when the dogs barked, the automaton would stop and the Centaur would "shoot" his arrow at someone. That person was then required to drink.

Beautiful! I had to go see 🙂

2 Iowa women get married after 72 years together

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — More than seven decades after beginning their relationship, Vivian Boyack and Alice "Nonie" Dubes have gotten married.

Boyack, 91, and Dubes, 90, sat next to each other during Saturday's ceremony, the Quad City Times reports.

The women met in their hometown of Yale, Iowa, while growing up. Then they moved to Davenport in 1947 where Boyack taught school and Dubes did payroll work.

Dubes said the two have enjoyed their life together and over the years they have traveled to all 50 states, all the provinces of Canada, and to England twice.

"We've had a good time," Dubes said.

Aww —🙂🙂

The best sand I ever played in was at Marble Canyon, Az. It's a place called Lee's Ferry, on the Colorado River. There is the sweetest campground next to the river

- listening to the river run all night brings the best sleeping ever 🙂

The river sand is the softest, finest sand - it felt like silk when you poured it thru your fingers, and when it was wet you could drip it into the craziest looking sand castles and sculptures.
