I'm just curious to see how my fellow Scrops respond to this. I've got a few friends who are also Scorpio suns, and they all abruptly go silent for weeks or months on end. I've never really done the disappearing act myself, but it's annoying to be on the receiving end of an unintentional or intentional cold shoulder. I'd hate to lose a friend or two, but I'm close to just not answering the eventual out of the blue "here I am!" phone call.

Whatch guys think?

I am guilty of this. Usually when I disappear it is because I am either under stress or just need to be alone for awhile. If the person is someone I consider to be a great friend I will only disappear for about a month at the longest. Normally when I am ready to pick up the phone and give them a call they either call or text me first. The conversation usually starts with "Ok. I know something is up because you pulled your disappearing madness on me again. What is up?...."

Might I suggest asking your friends why do they disappear for months at a time?

I do this on a regular basis. I'll just withdraw and only have very few people (mostly superficial) that I am in contact with for weeks or months at a time.
Like, I will drop all contact with super close friends or family, but will chit chat with the lady in the coffee shop every morning.
My good friend (Taurus) calls it my radio silence. Most everyone in my life is used to it by now, they know I come back eventually.

if it's a deliberate cold shoulder, i use this rule. for all the time i feel emotional when i think of the person in question, i don't contact them. if they contact me during this silence, i can bounce back to how things were (depending on the issue leading to the silence) but otherwise, i'll only speak to them when i know i'm in control of my feelings and sometimes that time never comes.

I do the same thing too.

Sometimes I just don't want to be around the people I know will talk about the heavy stuff or who I feel I may spill the heavy stuff too. Sometimes I just need a good laugh or some pleasant chit chat

........I can sooooo relate to this.......I will complain about friends of mine doing it....yet I do it allll the time. I must confess......and I do it often .......when im stresse, when Ive set goals set out to achieve....when the people around are negative or drama prone....I sweep.....cut them right out....sometimes im guilty of pulling this for no reason at all....I feel the need of some mee time. People closest to me know when im quiet & not my happy go lucky self.....somethings up....my family not excluded!.....I can withdraw for weeks, mos....sometimes I have just dropped out of someones life for no reason at all and have never come back for reasons I dont even have the answers to? I do feel bad but at that moment.....it just works for me. I know its not fair but at the time.....it just feels right....

BGP...true....I have a handful of very close friends I call lifers....I think mine stick around because they know me truly.....my intentions...my heart & they understand me & silently know my reasons......in other words they deal with it because they love and know there is no evil intent behind it. I truly enjoy my own company and can just hang out alone & be completely content......ive done this for mos at a time in the past.....no reason aside from feeling I needed to......love it or leave it......but dont fake the funk!

I've always done the disappearing act. Luckily I read about Pluto, and it's sitting right on my Moon, so maybe that's why disappearing for no reason seems so natural. The painful downside is when some ppl actually apologized thinking they've done something wrong. I don't know something just freezes and I need to be alone ..
So I guess it's just to try and explain better, to not hurt friends
