So, I have been playing with the idea of getting a new car and finally decided I am definitely going to. I started researching various cars. As first, I thought I was going to go with a modest car to take me from point A to B. However, the more I look, the more I want a luxury car. I am leaning towards the 5 series BMW. My father thinks I am crazy to go from looking at Toyota Camrys to a 5 series BMW. I figure, I work hard, I have gone through school to get all these dang degrees, shouldn't I be able to treat myself?! Lol. But I cannot help but to feel guilty for having my expensive taste.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Not with cars but if it's something I'm passionate about then yes. It has to be reeeeally worth it though...and I have to analyse my decision like crazy... But I have a cap rising...basically my chart is full of cap and scorp so maybe the cap stops me from that kind of thing.

I have owned a Porsche 928 and a Mercedes 500 SL

... and now I drive a Honda because I am smarter now.

RARELY now do I have something go wrong
whereas my life used to revolve around
visits to the garage.

Do yourself a favor - buy a Honda or Toyota
invest the difference and be a quiet millionaire.

I'm gonna speak for my Scorp partner and say he's pretty low-budget. The only things he prefers to spend extra money on are beer and cheese. The only thing he insists on having the best of is good-smelling body soap!

Path - I already own a home in Louisiana and it has been a pain in my butt! I need to get some things straightened out with that home before I purchase anymore property.

Scorp - I have never owned a "luxury" car. I have always driven very practical cars. I think I am just ready for a change. A slight upgrade??_

King โ€” The Juke is nice but its an SUV or crossover, right? Gas is almost $ 5 a gallon here in LA. I cant do it! No trucks or SUV??s for me. Lmao! But it is hot!

Lol @ beer cheese. Don't get me wrong I have been known to spend a lot of money on food because I LOVE to eat!

I think that car is cute and it is smaller than your typical SUV so it probably has good gas mileage....

Me and you both on the food I spend money on good food cause I LOVE to eat and try new foods, I missed my calling to travel the world and be a food taster ๐Ÿ™‚

Thats precisely why you wanna get it. Its a 4 cylinder crossover that is very fuel efficient. People are averaging 20-25 miles per gallon. The manufacturer rates it at 22 city/ 28 mpg highway. I think the truth is somewhere around 20/25 mpg but its still better than any BMW 5 series

Thanks for the info. Do you have one?

Wait a minute, you think the Juke looks better than the 5 series!?!??

Don't have one. No, it doesn't look better, it gets better fuel economy. Cmon you have your multiple degrees you should be able to follow the conversation ๐Ÿ˜›

What were your majors btw?

Lmao! Ouch low blow!!! Got it. Yes, the fuel economy is better but the 5 series is H-O-T! Lol.

BA double major, English and Sociology. MS in Education and School Counseling. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Why, thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh wow! That is great. Congrats. Math has never been my strength. I admire people who are naturals when it comes to numbers. My best friend received her Master in Statistics. What school do you attend?

I like how you think! Lol. But yes, that is what I was thinking. Maybe, I can get this car, get my fix, and be done with it.

Girl, I would love to travel and taste food for a living. I am addicted to watching those kinds of shows on the Travel channel and the Food Network. Lol. Last week, I spent almost $ 100 on dinner. I was a little mad at myself but it was so worth it!! Lol.

Purr, I am definitely that way. Until recently, I used to have a crappy phone. I am not into electronics or anything like that. I have used the same laptop FOREVER! In fact, it is literally falling apart. However, I do spend money on my home, food and certain clothing items.

My scorpio dad has expensive taste. One of his first cars while he was in college was a ferrari. He's had others since then... mercedes, bentley. He takes after his dad only his dad likes the older, bulkier cars.

That's great, Natch. ๐Ÿ™‚

Personally, I can't own enough property (not just talking about a home, no offense).

It's political

LOL

Path - Most definitely! I want to purchase additional property. However, I just have to get this current situation under control before I purchase any additional pieces of property. No offense taken. ๐Ÿ™‚

Eli - YES! I want a white one too!!! Aw, thank you for making me feel better. Lol.

Happy - WOW! Your dad DOES have expensive taste. Lol.

QS - Definitely the maintenance on BMW's is expensive. This is one factor that I have been taking into account. I think I might compromise and get a 2-door IS lexus. My father is a GM at a Lexus dealership, so I know he can get me a really good deal.
