How to interpret taurus man's repeated question

Ok so I've been talking to this taurean male and have learned the hard way when I push to talk about how he feels abt me, he feels I'm moving too fast and he backs off a little. So I've decided to ride the wave and see what develops naturally. But naturally I'm curious and want to gauge if we are on the same path (getting to know each other and figure out if there is something real between us). It doesn't help he's a typical taurus and he's very slow in his process. I personally think he's worth it so I'm exercising every ounce of patience I can muster. But I'd love to read his mind just once. Anyhoo I've noticed that before he goes to sleep he will ask me "what's on your mind?" And this perplexes me because he knows how my mind works and that has been an issue for us when I've wanted more of a declaration of his feelings than what his actions had/hadn't quite shown me yet.

Any ideas of what he's pushing for? Is that his way of saying "ok I'm ready to talk about your questions?"
When he asks its not because I'm quiet or in a mood or anything. We are just chilling.

Just curious from a taurus' perspective.

He might just want to know if your thinking about him inside you too.
