Is There Legal Ground for the Taurus and Stairway to Heaven Case
The lawsuit alleges that Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven copied elements from Spirit's Taurus. The case centers on similarities in guitar riffs and melodies, with legal debates about originality and influence. The outcome could impact music copyright laws and the protection of creative works.
There are some undeniable similarities.
Apparently the judge thinks the similarities are too 'substantial'.

I remember stumbling on the Spirit album by coincidence. I was listening to Love - Forever Changes on youtube and among the correlated videos there were Taurus.
The cover of their album is what caught my interest (truly art) so I impulsively gave it a try.
First song was this:
After the first 3 seconds my mind immediately went to the main theme of Charlie's Angels (similarities were striking). Then I've kept listening, I've heard the actual song Spirit and I remained shocked.
The rip off was manifest and every one in the comment section below was talking about the plagiarism, to which they all agreed unanimously.
That was 7 years ago, thus I'm sure rock fanatics had been knowing about this since way before current times.

^^ Yup. A cousin of mine, a true rock aficionado, particularly music of the 70s, once claimed that Led Zep is one big rip-off band. He could name other songs of theirs that were similar to others who came way before they did. They just did it better and bigger.
ETA: I just realised this is in the Taurus board. Um, why? The song is called Taurus, but I don't think it's in reference to any disappearing Taurus man who went hot and cold on an unsuspecting female... or is it...?
