I personally loved it too. Wish there were more things like it. Tbh I feel there will be over the next few years. Whats truly astonishing to me is how many people are offended by it. Those people can simply fuck off imo. It was amazing, and that cannot be denied.

That 💯 sounds like something she’d do. And I do admire that she’s at a point in her career where she is in control, where her artistry can just flow free and I find something vicariously satisfying in that, I mean a woman, a black woman, in the music industry where you know you’ve heard all the dodgy shit that goes on people trying to control your message. And she’s commanding, in control, and totally comfortable there. I mean she’s done amazing it’s so impressive. And I can understand why it means so much to so many people to see this paradigm of excellence represented so clearly and naturally at the top where everything in our culture tells us power is supposed to be something different. Everything about it is just culturally important while feeling like just a natural expression of what everyone can see is stunning and moving.
She so clearly has an artists soul and she has a clear and precise vision it’s awesome tbh 👌

That’s a good point, his canon is that deep. And what helped make Britain into a soft superpower though that image is diminishing by the day now.
But specifically Simba and Scar are pretty much palette swaps for Hamlet and Claudius. They lifted the main thrust of their story from Willy Shakes

A visual feast. Really stunning.
Already was my favorite. But My Power and Find Your Way Back are close seconds.
What I liked most about the album was how collaborative it was. Its cool she is using her platform to expose the american audience to relatively unknown artists.
I saw she got a decent amount of critique from people saying she didn't represent Africa accurately or what not. But its not an artists job to educate people on various countries. She took inspiration from these various cultures and reflected it in her art. And she collaborated with people from those various countries and cultures to better represent accurately. Pretty impossible to delve deep into 54 countries in an hour-ish or so.
She said it clearly in Black Parade
"motherland, motherland drip on me" but also "I'm goin' back to the South where my roots ain't watered down". I think that's a reference to her hometown Houston.
