A Night(s) at the Opera #12: Coronation Street
May 11 1987
Percy enjoys having a polling station at the Community Centre, ordering the voters around. Linda Jackson is confused by her feelings towards Terry. Linda gets upset when Pete and Curly get drunk together in the Rovers. Emily, Ken and Susan rally the voters to get them to the polling station to vote for Deirdre. Who will win the election for a council seat, Deirdre or Alf?

Terry avoids Pete Jackson, fearing that he'll hit him for hitting on Linda. Alf is depressed that he's lost his seat. Mike pays for a celebration party at the Rovers for Deirdre. Ken refuses to let Mike pay for Deirdre's party and pays himself. Deirdre tells Alf that she wants them to remain friends and invites him to her party, but in the end Alf's life goes from bad to worse...
May 18 1987
Audrey finds Alf in No.11 fighting for breath and calls an ambulance. Deirdre feels all the guilt. Rita supports Audrey at the hospital.
May 20 1987
Audrey brings Alf home and refuses to let him do anything. Alf assures Deirdre that she isn't to blame for his heart attack. Linda Jackson tells Terry they can't see each other again; she loves Pete and doesn't want to lose him.
May 27 1987
Pete Jackson doesn't understand why Linda is so moody. Betty and Gloria worry about Bet's whereabouts as she hasn't been seen for two days. Terry gets Pete and Curly to do a job so he can see Linda.

My step mother use to watch this every Sunday. Thought I'd give it a try. I always found the theme song depression though lol. So different from American soaps with all the furs, costume jewellery and big hair.
I love Brit verbal exchanges, and I'm very intrigued by what's happening between Linda and Terry..

I'm glad Alf's wife made it in time, however her delayed reaction and (odd) decision to run over to the neighbours to get help instead of calling 999 (I believe that is their emergency system) herself, baffles me. And her initial response, geeze was slower than molasses. It's almost like *oh sh*t I'm suppose to have a reaction here right?--right, act surprised! * lol.
