Its just a suggestion from FB based on mutuals like groups etc.
Cool will let them so even though it’s on the messenger app search bar it doesn’t mean they have typed there name into the search bar right?

No FB is suggesting you send this person a message. Based on mutuals you have or groups you are in.
Instagram does it too.. the search bar for finding their profile tho is diff that is based on recent searches

No FB is suggesting you send this person a message. Based on mutuals you have or groups you are in.

Ok so the search bar on actual fb is for there profile but search bar on messenger is different thanks

My friend has asked me a question but I do not really have the answer to as I’m not great with social media plus I don’t use it so thought I’d ask you guys as some may know.It’s a question about Facebook Messenger
If anyone uses this.
In the recent search bar on Messenger app why would someone’s name appear on the recent search if a message from that person was last in 2023 and if they had no contact since say that message or does it indicate that they have had or a message has been deleted because when clicked on the persons name the old messages is from 2023 and is in Archived and not in your normal Inbox.
Any advice you can give would be great thanks.
Are they friends with the person on FB? I only see people in my FB Messenger that I am friends with.

It’s based on FB’s shitty algorithm. He’s interacted with that person the most or most recently more than anyone else. He can clear his recent search history. Go into the recent search history and select “Edit” and “Clear All”.

Say he had searched them on normal Facebook search and not on the messenger search could they pop up on messenger because of that?

FB Messenger does not pull your search history from FB. They are two different entities.

FB Messenger does not pull your search history from FB. They are two different entities.

Would that conclude that the name was typed into messenger then ?
To see say an old message or start a new one.
One other thing if say a message was went and then the conversation was deleted would it completely delete the message or would that message that was in archive still be there.
He seems to think because he tried it an archived message is in archive because it was put there by say the person who owns the account.
And he has said that if he types someone’s name into the messenger bar it then appears as recent search and all the other people he has on his recent search are people he has recently spoken to not someone from 2023
Yes to your first question.
On your second question, if a message or conversation is deleted, it is permanently removed. It is not archived.
