Was someone offended because I thought that a professional hairdresser should have good hair?
Because it insinuates you thought her hair style was bad. Which, honestly, shouldn't matter but im sure you meant no harm, right?

What took place for her to get offended ??

What did you say ?

I didn't say anything to a hairdresser.

I need a new style, mine is getting really drab, so I came here to ask people how they feel about hairdressers, or manicurists, or makeup artists who have bad hair, nails, makeup?

Would you trust them that they are good at their jobs?

The consensus was that most are good at their job, regardless of their style.

I was just curious why that was offensive to people in that they went to God and asked him to delete the thread.

Oh well, ssdd in dxp I guess.

Oh ... Well in that case, sure.

If they like their hair and i don't, doesn't matter as long as they do mine right.

I thought you offended someone but that's my fault for assuming. My b.

A hairdresser should have nice hair imo...

My sister is a hairdresser and she has had various colors , she has piercings, and tattoos and I've often wondered if that turned off potential clients as she worked in the Shadyside Neighborhood in Pittsburgh which is well to do...but it didn't and she makes damn good money. But if she wasn't my sister and I didn't know how damn good she is...I may not let her do my hair. I know it sounds bad but hey, wtf....you are a walking advertisement for your proffession.
I agree. You represent your brand/business.

I think the thing with some beauticians (stylists, makeup artists etc.) is that, because they are constantly surrounded by so many varied, unique and trending styles, they have a tendency to get a little over-the-top due to all the exposure. After a while, they kind of forget what "normal" is supposed to look like, lol.

That was my original thought process .... but, as it was successfully pointed out to me - style is subjective.

They obviously love their hair, or they wouldn't be wearing it, right?

I guess I was more talking about trends, rather than personal grooming desires .... such as: the long oval nails aren't in style, people wear them straight and boxed looking ... or with eye makeup, women only apply it to the top lid, not the bottom, no liner on the bottom, only mascara

So, if the dresser/stylists wasn't trendy ... then would you trust them to be able to do your hair/nails/makeup ... was my original question, right?

And that's more what I mean, I wasn't really talking about my personal taste, and what constitutes bad hair. But, if a woman has a mullet, I will likely pass her up, or if she has makeup on her lower lid, I will pass her up as being a person who knows how to keep up with current trends.

Looks like all her threads are gone... So may not have anything to do with you P, but her picture being in the thread.

Think she got banned

idk ... my thread wasn't about her.

Do you do your own hair? Is that a home dye, or was it in a salon?

I have all natural locks .... salt and peppered, more salt. In fact, from a distance, I look all gray. And I have that old white lady's hair that is thin and stringy. It's permed but the perm is wearing out and it's getting stringy again. I vowed 4 years ago to never color it again, it's such a pain in the ass to keep it looking good when it's colored.

So, I'll have to keep it gray. But, what is good? I don't want to have the old lady look with short small curls.

How do you find a hairdresser? I don't know what I want, and they expect you to walk in there and tell them what you want. How do you find one who can tell you what would work best for your hair/look?

Mine is colored, my pic was last month when I stripped the black out and went back to the color my hairdresser had done. I had to do at home the last several times as I could not afford the salon. I got everything from developer and the red from Sally's beauty supply. It's a tad cheaper.

I got my lady from word of mouth co workers , like ten of us get their hair done by her!

I would be mostly white/pepper if I didn't color! I have had grey since I was 20 lol

I have no suggestions other than keep it short? Like a short feathered cut?
