Libra female / Virgo male - help meeee

Hi guys,
Just need a teensy bit of advice ... (Longer than I thought sorry)
Newly seeing a Virgo, first two weeks full of lots of chats seeing each other four times (quite a bit but my birthday weekend kinda opened up more dates) in la la land enjoying it all. Super romantic, spoils me all that jazz. Got me good with the stares and was hesitant but cute when he said he had missed me. Do they usually find it hard to say those things? It's like he was about to tell me he loved me he came across nervous.

All was fine and dandy till he didn't respond to convo a few day's ago, inner Libran has girly melt down hahah. Texted the next afternoon asking how his day was, he apologised for not texting the other day and explained something had happened last night that he didn't know how to deal with (of course I think ex gf has come to light) but I just let him know I'm here if he needs a chat and yeah that's about it.

Giving him space because well it seems he needs it but I guess I'm just curious as to whether he'll re appear haha. He has one of my clothing items because he found it comfy and as a joke I claimed something of his so now it's like buddy those pants were comfy I'll need them back if you don't want to see me anymore.

I don't want to go down the whole sooky libra road again I was in a pretty good place when before I met him so just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?

Yeah I don't know whether to ask what the issue is but I don't want to feel sad and do the whole what's wrong with me? Thing because I know I'm not the problem here. As much as I'd miss him this isn't a great sign of what the future relationship would have (always wondered why my libra Aunty said shoot her if she dates another Virgo haha)

Don't know how much longer I should give him space vs ok what's with you / lets just end it now.

They broke up 6-12 months ago I believe, I don't think I'll be able to replace that spot anyway (they have matching tattoos - he doesn't know I know what an idiot).
