Virgo vs Gemini. Intellect & Emotion.
Intellect:
In the field of intellect the two signs share quick discernment and analytical skills. They also both base their lives around the pursuit of knowledge, but they differ considerably in the path to that.
V:
Virgo's intellect, is deep, precise and practical. It is his basic nature to be inquisitive, and on any subject a person will find if he has been exposed to it, he probably has more than a sophomoric understanding. Virgo is quite practical, and his reason for living revolves around the deep seated intellectual & emotional ideas that have rooted themselves in his psyche and then melded with his ego.
He is a constant battle between his physical tactile self and his intellectual self, as his demeanor is so much Air and so much Earth. The results in practicality, the Virgo will in maturity, only apply his Intellect to Earthen life. He is generally uninterested or just passably so, as in as a hobby, in that which is not based in real achievement and material creation. Cockamaimy, off-the-wall and avante-garde does not appeal to him unless it somehow relates to the practical world in an effective way. He will generally slough or ridicule speech on any subject that lacks empirical evidence or be doubtful of anything yet unproven. His intellect is highly precise, as he matures, he will focus more and more with laser like precision and be an expert in typically no less than 3 subjects. His main weakness however, that for as laserlike and precis his vision is, it will result in him often not seeing the big picture and obvious logical steps to progression.
His relationship with his ego is such, that he will grow to base his self-worth on being 'correct' rather than 'right'. Thus on a subject for which he is uninformed, he will be open to learn without interjecting, but on a subject he has mastered, he can be tactless, ruthless and implacable against 'misinformed' opposition on the matter. The Virgo's intellect will form his career life, and be separate from his physical and sexual life, where he could be pleased to have a mute lover, only requiring that she be loving.

well then i guess according to you, i'm not most geminis....because i take time to think about what i'm going to say when i am speaking with someone i really care about. in daily conversations with co workers, we all think on our feet. that is a different scenario. but when it comes to people who matter to me, i contemplate my thoughts and often put down on paper first what i hope to say. that way i can analyze and know what my true feelings are and if they will be received in the manner i intended them to be. in fact, when i write a sincere letter that is heartfelt, i edit it many times to get it just right. if anything, i probably "over think and over analyze" my thoughts before expressing them.

I have NO faith— seriously? that is so far off in veracity, it almost makes me laugh.
In terms of my personal faith in Christ, I've had peaks and valleys over the course of my life in terms of my faith being tested. All believers do. But through thick and thin, my faith has not diminished.
In terms of people, one of my weaknesses is having TOO MUCH faith in people. I tend to value certain people in my life too much and believe they are something they probably can never attain. And I'm often let down because of this. I put so much effort in my friendships (those I'm really close to) and my personal relationships because I believe so strongly in them. When the same amount of effort isn't reciprocated, I feel hurt. It might be because I've always wanted to see the best in people and hoped they would appreciate my endeavors and my loyalty, and in turn, endeavor to do the same. I don't know if this is the Gemini in me or the fact that I have Virgo rising.
In any event, this Gem is grounded in faith. Without it, life would have little meaning to me.

I was married to a Virgo for 12 years. We were like night and day. He was controlling with me but with everyone else he lacked a backbone. He did not often show his emotions but when he did they manifested through a complete sobbing breakdown. I didnt often show my emotions either and when I did they manifested in me divorcing him. He was/is very intelligent and when things were going ok we had great in depth conversations. We made great friends but horrible mates. I was too independant for him and he was too stifling for me.
Concerning faith in a higher being, I have always had faith in a higher power but my Virgo ex was an atheist. We did not see eye to eye on that at all. Obviously we had no business being married but we were both 19 and did it anyway.

I disagree. I think pretty much the only thing Virgos and Gems have in common is our Mercury ruled intellect, the love for information, that we both like to converse (alot), debate/argue.
Behavior patterns, thought processes, emotional nature, etc. are all quite different.
Of all of the other elements I would say that Virgos have more of the things I
mentioned above in common with the water signs - Cancers & Scorpios moreso.

Where did you get that idea from? Just because the are different from us(virgo's) doesn't make them less holy, intelligent, or of less faith.

I will admit I do get bored easily but no ending it all has never crossed my mind. Instead I simply find something else to do. My boredom has led me to travel most of Europe and parts of Asia. What you may consider running from our problems might just be us deciding toxic people or certain issues don't get to live rent free in our minds any longer.

What a total crock of utter crap that is.
1. I grew up with a controlling and abusive alcoholic father. I faced his shit every day and protected my mother from it. When I was younger, I had no identity because I was adopted and had no one to connect with. But despite that, I grew stronger emotionally and mentally because of those challenges and put my energy into other constructive things as sports.
2. Despite losing my mother to cancer, I went on to suck up my personal feelings about my father and try to make peace. I have had a very rewarding career in the medical field where I help many people.
3. I have raised two wonderful boys who are competitive and are learning from me life is about hard work, integrity, passion, tenacity and belief in yourself.
I think you have good intentions when posting your OP and the topic is intriguing as I do believe gems and virgo's share some qualities. That is probably why one of true pillars in my life is a virgo. We connected mentally and emotionally from day one.
But you really need to think about posting generalizations based upon one or a couple of what "your" friends say. Seriously, life experiences play a huge role into a person's make up.
The era you were raised can also play a part. Humans all share certain similarities, no doubt. But to say that gems are bored or need diversion because they are afraid to face their problems and are weak is beyond the pale. Last time I checked, having fortitude, being tenacious, and dealing with reality aren't qualities monopolized by any one sign or group of people. that would be like saying most virgo's are drug addicts because one well known singer, who had a definite reputation for being a drug addict, just died.

@ gemini64 well I guess you're not, kudos to you. Never said ALL geminis are the same. There are constants in all the signs but everyone's different whether it's based on other influences in their chart, the way they were raised, their environment &/or other situations.
^^^@gem64, I just read what you wrote above & I stated the same thing. Maybe it did sound like I was generalizing as well when I said gems do before they think, but I'm really not putting everyone in the same boat because even before I stated that I also said that all geminis feelings are not fleeting.
Is it me or its factual I seem to think that Virgo's & Gemini's can make very good friends but bad mates.... Gemini's to me are much more emotional and i think that gemini's for the most part live a freelance / care free life while virgo's have to think thoroughly through what is done whether it be simple or complexed.. What i do though based off analysis Gemini's and Virgo's are hard workers they strive to do there best at any business partnership..

It also depends on their birth chart. You can't base a gems personality soley on their sun sign...you have to consider the moon & venus placements too.

I'm a Gem who wants to say something about my emotions...or perceived lack therof. I feel everything VERY deeply and am very emotional...inside. I feel other people's energy, and AGONIZE over every teardrop and snippet of sadness in the world. I HAVE to let it go, or I would be a sobbing mess all the time. My nervous system is simply not built for that. Perhaps other signs are built for holding the sadness of humanity, but I am not. I feel that my purpose is to uplift people. How can I fulfill that purpose if I can't process the pain I feel, move on from it, and remain positive? If I seem to be flitting about without paying lots of attention, it's because I am. I cannot settle for long without becoming overwhelmed, morose, and cynical, and that is no help to the world. Emotion
V: Virgo is more emotional overall, but less emotional in the apparent and immediate. A Virgo cannot be influenced by an emotional argument in almost any situation, but they grow and have deep rooted emotions for all people they interact with. A Virgo is not adept at expressing his emotion, and often fails to even express what he he absolutely feels. A Virgo has a great depth of emotion and will never harm another to save his ego. Emotions build the Virgo's ego, they value their ability to be of service to that which they feel bonded to. However, a Virgo is more difficult to get to know than many signs, and far more difficult to read at times as far as where you stand. Virgos are capable of making substantial long term relationships of trust with people that are low maintenance and without a lot of fluff. These take time to form however.
G: The Gemini is the opposite of the Virgo in emotions. The Gemini has superficial immediate emotions that it uses like toys or tools in life. This does not mean they are not genuine, but that they are far more available but thus less valuable. The Gemini will readily give someone affection as this is a sort of play, a part of the overall enjoyment of life. As quickly as one becomes a part of the game, the game can end, and the toy used can fall out of favor. However, these immediate emotions are bridges to inside the Gemini where there ego lies. For this reason a Gemini can engage in immediate acts of kindness as it goes straight to bolstering their ego quite quickly. Also, immediate emotional arguments can influence a Gemini but long term emotionality cannot be hoped for. On the inverse, Geminis can quickly and easily translate their logical desires into emotionals cues, making them the most successful trickers and manipulators in the Zodiac.
Unlike the Virgo, emotions revolve around the Gemini's ego which is a locus of conflicting positive and negative hemispheres trying to keep balanced. This balance manifests itself as a gigantic fear of attack on their ego, as such negativity will upset that balance. For this, Geminis are often self absorbed. The Gemini in a mercurial lash out would go for the jugular disregarding all clarity or balance on a subject, just to save their ego. The emotions are the satelites of the Gemini ego rather than the constiuents of it as in the case of the Virgo.
