How to start writing song lyrics ?

Hey there,

I do make simple poetry but aspire to write song lyrics. Has anyone ever tried writing song lyrics ? How was your journey, How did you start with it, How was the overall experience ?

Normally with music I start with a melody I find catchy. The words make little to no sense yet, but some of the random words might end up developing the song. Then once I have a solid melody I begin to make words that flow and make sense with each other. After I have a small chunk of a melody mixed with words, I decide if that part is the beginning, middle or end, then add more to the story of the song.

As long as you have a good singer.

You can write however you want.

It's their job to make them come to life.

I’d say start by listening to your favorite song and write down the lyrics you hear.

Then go to thesaurus.com and replace the lyrics with synonyms for each word so it isn’t plagiarism 😉
