Generational transits are those major transits from Jupiter to Saturn that everybody has at the same age. These are planet transits making aspects to their own natal position. Their similar influence from person to person is amazing and validating, although of course they will have variable effects depending on the natal planet's house and sign, like the famous Saturn return. Here is an incomplete list. One good way to learn about one of your natal planets is to go back and see what happened in your life during one of these life transits.

Age 7-8 - 1st Saturn square

For many of us, the first real difficult year of our childhoods. Psychologists like Piaget have written that this is when the Ego really begins to form. Self awareness, control over your actions and feelings, ability to plan ahead. A big jump in growth, and a good stage overall, but childhood is kinda over at this age, and that is a rough transition.

Age 12 - 1st Jupiter return

This one is almost always good. Notice that this is the perennial age when tribal peoples have usually put their children through an initiation rite, or baptism (me) or barmitzva. Can be a new school, a chance to travel, a first romance. Jupiter represents a psychological outer circle - outside of our family and neighborhood - to the wider world in some way. Church clubs, sports teams, boy scouts, special school activities, etc.

Age 14-15 - 1st Saturn opposition

I wish that parents, school counselors and teachers knew about this one. It could avoid so much trouble and maybe prevent a few shootings. Here, the Ego gets the first real test. Remember the Karate Kid movie? That teacher was Saturn personified. At this age we have to come face to face with our mistakes, faults and failures. We discover that some of our friends no longer fit. The challenge is to take responsibility for our mistakes, yet not judge ourselves too harshly. Maturity, patience. So often, this age is when the kids start wearing black, listening to God awful music that you hate, and reading fatalistic poetry. Seriously though, depression is usually a challenge, at least for a short period.

Lol this exact period was when I was heavy in my emo phase.

Age 16 - The Venus Return

We have a Venus return every year, but at age 16, Venus makes a return on our birthday, exactly like the natal chart. Kinda special. The 16 connection, especially young women at this age, to mythology, fairy tales and social rituals is obvious. Sleeping Beauty was 16.

Very true for me. I grew up reading Twilight in my preteens and this is when the movies were coming out and I was passionately reminded of how much I wanted a wealthy vampire bf (preferably with a British accent) to stalk me and sweep me off my feet.

Age 18 - 1st Moon's Node return

Karma kicks in. We have an experience, according to the house and sign of the Node that opens the textbook of life lessons our soul has chosen to learn.

Age 19-20 - The Uranus square

It's rebellion time. This is your 2nd year of college when you really bust out with discovering who you are. Independence. You must make some kind of healthy act of rebellion to free you from your parents at this stage - or suffer for it later in your 20s.

Age 21-22 - the 2nd Saturn square

Finishing college, taking on more responsibilities, maybe a first job. Can be difficult such as changing majors.

Lol I also exactly changed my major around this time and started first working too.

Age 23-24 - the 2nd Jupiter return

This usually one of the best, when you're at your peak, happy, traveling, exploring. partying, expressing your talents, falling in love, first child. Opportunity, the world seems wide open for you. The Beatles did Sgt. Pepper at this age.

I recently finished this transit and got married and did the most fun travels to date during it.

Age 27 - 1st Progressed Moon return

This one can begin a little early when the Progressed Moon simply enters the house or sign of the natal Moon. The exact return is at 27 1/3 years old. Almost everyone gets married, divorced, buys a house, makes a move or has a baby. Moon business.

This is my next one to come :o

Age 29 - 1st Saturn return

The big enchilada. Your 20s are over, time to figure out what you really want to do. Can be both difficult, defeating and productive when big life choices are made and things move forward.

Age 36 - 3rd Jupiter return

Can be a good career year, maybe back to school. Spiritual growth, travel is normal.

Age 38 - Pluto square

This one is really rough on many. Pluto square Pluto brings us to a point in life when, although young, some parts of our lives are getting stagnant. Old energy patterns are holding us back. Old emotional baggage from our childhood may emerge to be transformed. Symbolic or literal death around your life may occur. Great year for therapy!!

Age 40-42 - Uranus opposition

This used to happen at 40, but now since Uranus has a weird off-orbit, it's been happening to people at 41 and 42 lately. The big Mid Life Crisis!!! Can be exciting and freeing, rediscovering yourself, but can bring instability, changes in social life.

Yes, that seems to be pretty accurate 🙂

I'm after first Saturn return, very difficult moment, but after it finished you will see many things clearly and it feels like nothing will ever break you again.

Good to know what's ahead, I wasn't prepared for Saturn return as I found out about it pretty late.

I feel for you. If I wouldn’t know about a Saturn return before mine comes, I definitely can see myself taking it hard. I’ve read those who saw it coming were able to be less resistant to it which helped make things more bearable.
