My first ex boyfriend to this day still asks me to marry him. Well he's actually beyond asking now and just randomly msgs me on Facebook about how our wedding is gonna be and let me tell you its just tragic??_

I'm dark skinned and he's a cracker and he suggests that I wear white and he wears black and I ride in on a black stallion and he rides in on a white mare??_??_and all this is done on some tropical beach and were not even wearing suits he wants that casual look like we just just washed up for an episode of the love boat??_

I'm like how the fuck do you expect me to wear white and not get blood all over it considering I'm going to need the hearts of every living thing on the island to feed to my one and only true god satan to bind our sacred union.

He thinks its funny when I say no but I'm serious, we live in the same country what is the point—_.When I was 25 and living in melbourne I met a canadian chick and she was begging me to marry her because she was desperate to be an australian citizen and she was talking it all up how she's canadian and american and that I would get dual citizenship and I nearly did but I was so sentimental at the time about marriage and me being gay now I wish I had.

This is an interesting topic. I do wonder if some Aquas, those that are not traditional, would eventually settle down in a life long partnership w/ a loved one. My Aqua friend said he doesn't picture himself getting married (in the traditional sense) but he would be very happy w/ a long term relationship/commitment. Hmmmm... it's almost as if for him, making it official is what bothers him but not necessarily everything else that goes along w/ a long term commitment.

Just kind of rambling here, sorry if it doesn't make sense.

When you think of marriage it is bothersome. Why have that binding contract in the first place. I don't want to feel like I'm being owned or owning a part of someone I love in a form that is tangible.

Not afraid of commitment or any long term arrangement but being married is more than a piece of paper. It means should anything happen, they have rights to all your shit. Alimony is a bitch. They can also take you to court after a divorce and still get money out of you. A marriage means "I trust you SO much that I'm giving you the power to fuck my entire life up even if you're the one at fault.".

THIS.
Marriage for love isn't wise. For political or finical reason, sure. To visit your spouse in the hospital, sure. Tax reasons, sure.

Romance? No. If you want to be with me, you will. Why do I have bind you to a contract that guts me?

Not true.. we are just very careful whom we open up to and trust. I have people in my life that get me and understand me very well.

We can be "everyone's" friend but just a few that are truly close. As for marriage, I feel the same about the paper.... I understand the need for taxes, if something should happen etc.. but all it is IS a piece of paper, you can be committed to another without that.
