I've got Rosetta stone now (altho I've only used in once since). Its not very good at teaching characters along with pinyin and then English translation.
I want to continue learning so I don't forget the little I remember...I want to go back sooo bad though, the constant interaction helps me learn quicker.
Thanks for the link.
rosetta is so expensive...I wanted to try it but I'm not sure it's worth the money
No purchase necessary. π

don't worry, you can type BS and practice online. I can understand. π
Leatrning how to pronounce characters (without pinyin) and recognize them is very hard.

I am going to learn hindu one day. π
One at a time the temp. π
β_??_ (ni3 shuo1 de5 hen3 hao3)
meaning you speak very well.
"ni tu tao hao wo."
βββ??_ (zhe4 ge5 wo3 bu4 tai4 ming2 bai2)
Meaning I do not understand this sentence.
βββββββ(ke3 bu4 ke3 yi3 jie3 shi4 yi1 xia4)
can you explain this to me
The numbers are tones. there are for tones for each pinyin word
ni1 ni2 ni3 ni4
It is a different way to pronounce the same sound.
5 is toneless word.
yea like that. π
its actually better if you know the characters rather than the pronounciation. the pronounciation only helps you speak the word.
like
??=death
like this
β??,?
Isn't Hindu and Bengali the most spoken in india?
Learning a language involves knowing how to speak it and knowing how to write it. I am going to split this thread into two to confuse people more π
Sorry I made that mistake sb. π
More people speak english than Hindi in India?
Even so, then Hindi is the common togue. It is unwise to not learn it.
Like I am born in hong kong, which speaks cantonese, but I have to learn mandarin, which is what the majority of people are speaking.
^did you make those up?
*confused*
i learned chinese in 5 minutes on the joke board π π π
