So here I am this morning, drinking my coffee, going through my mail, and glancing through the newest issue of Fast Company. In it, there's an essay called "To Extemporize is Human". Here's an excerp:
"Back in May, I started a weird Web site called QuickMuse. The idea was to have virtuoso writers create poetry lives and in virtual public, on an assigned theme, against a 15-minute clock....."
"At first I thought we had just created a cool new internet experience...But QuickMuse turned out to be more than that. Ultimately, we are seeing there is an exercise in self-trust. Improvisation urges us to believe in our own first impulses and to fearlessly broadcast this information to the world."
Has anyone come across this website? I glanced at it and it's fascinating to see writers and poet laureates write about a topic in a 15-minute timeframe. There's a feature on this site where you can "play back" their typing - shows word for word and the time it takes for them to type a few words. It shows their thought process to an extent.>
Anyway, thought it was an interesting topic. What other aspect that caught my attention was "Improvisation urges us to believe in our won first impulses and to fearlessly broadcast this information to the world" given this is what we do on this blog site.
ooooh! That sounds really interesting! Wow...sometime I'm gonna look at that. I write poetry....I bet I could predict their thought processes, to an extent..
