Understanding Valentine's Day Expectations

Valentine's Day varies based on personal preferences. Some appreciate small gestures like flowers and sharing a good bottle of wine, while others see it as unnecessary. It ultimately depends on individual expectations and relationship dynamics. Recognizing what matters most to you can help make the day meaningful or keep it simple.

i have mixed feelings about valentines day. i dont hate it when im single but i dont think it's worth making a big deal about when im with someone. something i do expect though is flowers at work and that's kind of it. oh and i need a bottle of not crappy red to drink together. what do/dont you expect on VD Day 😄

"one time i took a razor blade and cut a piece of card board box into a heart and spray painted it red and wrote on it with a marker i love you,i thought i did a good job,but others thought i was a retard.oh well"

How cute 🙂.

I need to find myself an Aries man. Though I feel bad for the next bloke that comes my way 🙂.

Geez... Valentines day is just another reason for a chick to hold something over her man and brag to her friends about how much shit he buys her. *rolls eyes*
If it takes a certain day set on a calender for "romance" then there is something wrong with the relationship anyway.
And just to let you know... chicks just want to out do other chicks at work, school... and show off who got the most flowers from their man and who's man spent the most.

Thanks for the history lesson DL. It's nice to see that someone knows it's not about cheesey ass red roses and chocolate.
I read a different version though 😉

,"I'd probably buy some lilies, and put my chicken in a bow for when she get's in from work...."

Awww. lilies are my fav!
In a bow huh? Sounds interesting. The way I am I'd probably get too eager and yank on the bow when it was still attached. Nice touch but probably not a good idea 🙂

i'm assuming gingerscorp is single. but if you're not, are you saying that you would be 100% happy if your guy didn't even acknowledge the day or do anything remotely thoughtful? you wouldnt be just a LITTLE miffed? i'm not insulting you, you're just a lot more easy going than most chickies. girls love to say they hate this holiday and they don't want to celebrate it but having someone do something nice ANYWAY rules. it's a stupid holiday, don't get me wrong, but i still want some flowers and it totally is showing off! i think most girls are proud of whoever they're with. i'd like to think the guys are too 😉

Nope. I'm engaged to an Aries 🙂
I'd say I'm not high maintenenced but I'd be lying. I'm a friggin Scorpio.
But if I want flowers ... I make my own money I can buy em myself. No biggie.
I find it a little cheesey and kinda insulting that there is a specific day that men are obligated to "romancing" their women. Shouldn't they do that everyday? Isn't being in a good solid relationship enough? I know chicks that flip shit over not getting flowers for Valentines day and sulk and pout until man finally gives in and orders flowers. Then everything is peachy?!?! Spoiled children act like that not adult women.
My man is in the military. We won't see each other for Vday. When we dated before he was in Iraq over Valentines Day. I would have given anything just to talk to him and spend an hour with him and there are some women who see their husband/BF/finace every day and get MAD over not receiving flowers?!?! They should feel lucky that they even get to wake up to them every day and be around them. People take so much for granted. It's a little messed up in my opinion and very divaish.

it's only insulting if you let it offend you. For me it's not about being insecure or needing assurance, I'm an attention wh*ore, plain and simple. I have a giant aries ego and venus is Taurus. I want to be wined first, dined optional 😉 it's not one-sided though, you can't expect something and not give in return. i think very highly of the company i choose to keep and i expect stuff of them because they're worth it and smart. i'd be crushed if people expected nothing from me because my favorite thing in life is being useful.

I totally agree it's absurd that there's a holiday where we need to celebrate and show off our love because people should already know and blah blah blah but I still want it and I'm not going to pretend that I'm ok with doing nothing because I'm not. I expect something and I cant help it so I might as well cut my dude some slack and tell him what it is I'm expecting rather than letting him guess and then me being secretly bitter and holding it in and then acting pissy and he can't figure out what's wrong. flipping out is childish haha

Gingey how come you cant see your man this year?? 😢

I live in a different state and he's out training. Right now we are long distance but he moves to the state I live in on the 19th. He requested a transfer to a base near by. Yay!

I had to laugh when you said you had an ego. Only an Aries would fess up. LOL That's what makes me love you guys so much. Mine guy does the same thing.
I'm not totally against Valentines day but it's not something I'm going to make a huge stink about. He bought me a movie with my hollywood hunk in it and I'm buying him a shirt he's had his eye on. I'm just really against using material things to show love. It's shallow as hell. The most romantic thing my guy has ever done for me was surprise me with a trip to the zoo. Other then the cost to get in (which we split) we walked around all day and laughed and enjoyed each others company. No amount of money or flowers that kill off after a few days equals to the memories of that day. If I really wanted him to he'd jump at the chance to spoil me rotten but he knows I'm not like that. All I want to know is that he loves me and I'm his number one.
I guess it was those silly girls who throws tantrums to make her man buy her things all in the name of Vday and then turn around and brag to her friends about how much her guy bought for her because he "loves" her. Well yeah!! He bought shit for her to shut her up and keep the legs open! LOL

lol JMB, I've got season 1-9 - so just say where and when 😛

ewe, got taurus venus too but wining/dining and all that other val-day crap really pisses me off 😕 really impatient - feels too doctored...

If it's real, doesn't have to wait till valentines day... will be regular romantic gestures 😉
