graphics coordinator for a lebanonese owned corrugated company. we do graphic displays that are used in grocery and big box stores. hershey, crayola, are two of our biggest accounts. design is fun, if you're creating something that will remain. i basically feel like we are designing, and producing trash. something the general public really doesn't take notice of, and something that will end up in a land fill somewhere, but hopefully most will recycle. commercial design or art is a business that in the end, you're working to appease a marketing department somewhere. they're very demanding down to the smallest detail. something again, that the general public usually doesn't notice. it can be very stressful. i worked in an intensive care/open heart unit for 7 yrs. this graphics position has been a lot more stressful than that on many occasions. it's a fk'd up world. so wasteful. but i gotta pay the bills, just like everyone else. someone once told me ..never make your hobby a career, because then it only becomes a job. so i think there is a risk doing what you love for a living, and not have it become something you do not love very quickly. lucky are those who can find the balance.

way to go archer. i'm impressed. i have my fcc license as well. worked in TV a bit, but ended up in graphics. loved medicine. always think about going back there, but at this point i'd rather stay out of hospitals. have chosen preventative medicine for myself. vegetarian, holistic practices (even for my cat..she has FIV (aids)) with a little bit of the white man's medicine thrown in. i wish you the best. the world needs people like you.

archer..
OMG...now i'm really impressed. and my heart goes out to you. what strength it must've taken you. i was discussing somewhere on here the other day how people make choices. two reasons..pleasure or pain. usually the choice will be made to feel the less pain. so the pain of staying put, as you explained, was more then the pain of leaving all that behind. i think you just inspired me in more ways then you can imagine. if you ever want or need to talk, send me a personal message on here. i've been told that i have a good ear. i hope your future is fullfilling for you, and you find peace with the choices you have made and will make. best of luck and thanks for sharing these things.
