for me its - are they on my mind constantly, is the music I listen to about them, are they showing up in my dreams, do I look for them when I go out or think I see them, do I see people or things that constantly remind me of them throughout the day, do I notice myself changing to adapt to what I think they like, how they communicate, etc.? If they have that much of a hold on me to make it that far into my subconscious, I'd say they are definitely worth taking seriously....if its just a friendship or crush/physical attraction, none of that occurs....

I don't see a need to differentiate because I think some form of an infatuation/obsession phase where your thinking is somewhat consumed by the other person is likely going to be a part of any lasting love, and the work of anthropologists and neuroscientists who've studied human pair bonding (as well as that in other mammals) has borne this out, even across cultures (e.g., most notably Helen Fisher). Whether or not the love lasts beyond that will depend on all sorts of other factors of course....I do tend towards wanting to savor/prolong the emotional heights that this phase of love offers, and I think there are a lot of ways that you can do that, but of course, the comfort/stability/trust that's built in a longer-term relationship is also equally desirable....

Some more sensitive to feel you and can connect on deeper level. My partner is scorpio moon too and we are soul mates at least deeply connected. You will feel it when you met one, make sure not to be possessive and jealous
