Break ups

Me and my Scorpio boyfriend broke up recently and I have been having a hard time coming to terms with it. I am not sure if there is any hope for us to get back together or not. We talked briefly about why the relationship ended. He tells me this is it but I really want him to be part of my life because he makes me so happy. Not everything was perfect but I accepted it and was willing and still am willing to try and find common ground to restart. This is my first relationship. It lasted for 9 months. I am a Taurus women. When he broke up with me he told me it was because he was not feeling like himself and felt forced to be with me to make me happy towards the end. I could tell he was distant because he used to be all over me sexually, to now just wanting to cuddle. He did not want to have sex with me like he once did. We have mutual friends and some have told him to move on including his father, after our day break. Some of our friends say we just need time to figure out what we need. I know I can't wait long but I am trying the no contact rule before we try to become friends again. He told my friend he was not texting me first and that he needs space. As well as he will not be in another relationship anytime soon and would not flaunt it infront of me either because he could not do that to me. He also said I was special to him and that he will never forget me. I'm wondering what I should do and if there is any chance of love again?

@topes I have not fought to stay with him. I was avoiding pushing him further away. I told him that I cannot force him to be with me if he does not want this anymore but also that he made me extremely happy. He said constantly feeling on the defensive was just not worth it anymore.
