I'm cofused because i feel like that "backup" friend who is always going to catch him when he falls, but nobody should know that we're that close. I don't feel appreciated..

Only finding out important stuff from others. - Like what kind of stuff?

Like..things about his family, mostly it's about girls. He expects me to tell him if some guy wants to hook up with me..but he doesn't do the same. Or when he gets back with his ex. I'm his best friend, i am supposed to know about that. He only tells me "positive aspects" like when he has success on a specific academic matter, but leaves all the bad parts out.

He posts pics with them just for the sake of attention. Or tells everyone about his popular hot girl-friends. Maybe..he doesn't do it for attention as he is really close friends with them..but he does that with practically every close friend but me

The point is...he isn't like that at all. He has low confidence, and he acts a certain way when he's around other people but me. Lately, this has begun to change him. It has gotten to his head. Which is why i'm worried about our friendship.

If you have to question if it's worth it then I'd honestly say its not.

It seems you feel compartmentalized, if that's the right word. If you feel that way after all this time then it probably won't get better.

I know your tryna hold on two something here but two years is a good indication off what to expect into the future.. don't waste precious time only to find out later that while you had high hopes he had no intention of leaving his fortified box.
