Has anyone noticed that many of the grunge vocalists prominent during the early 90’s grunge era were mostly water and earth signs?

Kurt Cobain – Pisces

Chris Cornell – Cancer

Eddie Vedder – Capricorn

Layne Staley – Virgo/Leo cusp

Scott Weiland – Scorpio

Andrew Wood - Capricorn

...a lot of others I can't think of right now. I know people are “more than just their sun signs”. But, I grew up with this music and during that era it had a very “watery, earthy” vibe collectively. Everything was so emotional and raw, very angsty and I would even go as far to say as whiny. Just…very introspective and emotionally expressive.

Thoughts??

lol take it easy man, it's only been 2 hours.

Anyway, yea, the raw angst thing was in the past, and highly suitable for yin signs.

but now music is more electronic, and the emphasis is on flawless image, steel cold tough persona and being shamelessly artificial. Great for air signs.

I think cobain is more aquarius than pisces tho

Why?

He sounds super pisces to me. The type to have Aqua placements... though.

My Pisces sister wore black for like a month and was in her room deeply depressed for about a week when he died.

It was sad... but she took that sadness to another level—?

that whole "tortured soul" thing is more aqua than pisces IMO

Naa, Aquarius are far more light-hearted IMO. Water signs in general are very brooding

It's true, water signs are more emo, but after a while it becomes an act, and that's the domain of air signs.

Pisces can be emo to the bottom, but then they just snap out of it like it never happened.

Tortured = more anguished expression

Whereas a Pisces just feels lost and depressed, so lower leveled energy?

Is that the difference?

Yeah, that might be it. Kurt seemed very depressed and lost. Almost self-absorbed.

I don't know if it's an act. I mean, he did commit suicide and all. His natal chart had TOO MUCH water. I think it made him too lost in his emotions. Nothing to balance it out maybe?

Yeah, that might be it. Kurt seemed very depressed and lost. Almost self-absorbed.

But hydora says Kurt behaved more like an Aqua than a Pisces.

Which is odd because he had no Aqua or 11 house placements. But he was Uranus dominant.... maybe that counts for something.

Maybe the tortured energy came from his Virgo ascendant opposing his Sun, Merc, Venus and Saturn.

My sister is somewhat like that and she also has a Virgo ascendant opposing her Pisces sun, moon, Merc, mars and Saturn... ?

Interesting...

You are probably right.

Yeah, I think you are bang-on with that observation. There is more of a grittiness with that era. Less polished.

Listening to AiC hurts, total abyss... my band

Nirvana is frustration evolved into cynicism

Pearl Jam is melancholic... yet hopeful

Mother Love Bone is exemplary of the grunge sound, imo... not too heavy, it just makes you wanna be free

"The techno-punks," 1963-1969 (Generation X-a) (Uranus conjunct Pluto in Virgo; Neptune in Scorpio) It was said that the "punks" were the hippies of the eighties. This group is free-wheeling, impulsive, clever and resourceful, but more hard-nosed and cynical than the baby boomers were. They grew up in a declining society with little moral direction, and so have been called "the new lost generation" (the old was the group of "seekers" born during the Neptune-Pluto conjunction). They were labeled "Generation X" because they were so unsure of their identity or purpose. Despite having to grow up as "brash, pragmatic, suspicious, skeptical, selfish, sharp-eyed survivalists," this group has enormous creative potential once they find something to believe in. The first children of the computer age, they will undergo many personal upheavals and changes. Great scientists, artists and revolutionary political leaders could emerge from this group. Examples: Lisa Bonet, Kurt Cobain, Gary Coleman, Rob Lowe, Marla Matlin, Sinaid O'Connor, Luke Perry, Jason Priestley, Kiefer Sutherland.

🙂

Thank you, though I'm pretty sure that Pisces

moon and 12th house sun didn't help him much

either.

Four planets in 12th, actually, and Pluto

conjunct Virgo ascendant, with Uranus

conjunct Pluto... hell of a chart.

How many in your list are still alive?

Two maybe?

Hard to believe. 😢

Everything was so emotional and raw, very angsty and I would even go as far to say as whiny. Just…very introspective and emotionally expressive.

Thoughts??

Just wanted to add, Jerry Cantrell one of the best guitarist, and co vocals and lead guitar for Alice in Chains is a Pisces as well.

Him and Layne had a type of chemistry that I haven't been able to find in another band tbh..

Good combo, water and earth

Storytellers, raw emotion

Yeah, Jerry Cantrell is a helluvuh geetar player for sure.

All that water and earth energy from that time...

It is still palpable in the music even to this day.
