Need some guide on how to improve myself from a woman Cancerian boss perspective? I'm the usual ambitious Cappy woman and there's a work promotion coming up that is important to me that I'm also competing along with a Leo man. So I also want to know how to compete with a Leo man?

My cancerian boss has the usual cancerian traits, mainly;

-family-oriented so lots of work-gathering that sometimes I skipped when I'm emotionally unavailable

-lots of casual hug gestures that I often missed cuz I just never assume people wants a hug!

-very spiritual with a bit of moral superiority complex

-moody, going from pleased to anger in seconds and really offended when their phonecalls are not picked up after office-hours

I won in terms of discipline with the leo, he slacks and would often comes to work late and takes long lunch. But he won in terms of charisma and general likability, and also share the same level of empathy with my boss that I often feel detached or disagreed about. While I work harder, Leo work creatively and so we both delivers the best work the same, its fair on this part. What do you think?

What’s the job?

Yeah whats the job op?

If its sales based the leo will beat you out from a charisma standpoint. If its managerial you might have the edge.

Its managerial job. The leo has virgo rising so we're on par on managerial skill, but he's gotten into trouble before with my boss for his bad time management, and those in the office who don't like him use this against him. He definitely excels in meetings and negotiations better than I am, but I excels in discipline and productivity. The leo also often dissappear when there are work problems, only handling it when he absolutely must or when he is mentally ready, and this is where I'm better too bcz I face problems when its my responsibility. He solve problems with heart, I solve problems with mind. Not sure of which my boss prefers.

Also, my boss recently fired someone for not "smiling enough" (lol), and likes to talk about personal life with everyone, but while she respects my capricorn boundaries, people in the office (perhaps my boss too) thinks I'm intimidating because of this. The leo of course have no problems, he's open about personal life, and very helpful and generous in and outside of work. I'm only open and helpful within work.

Cancers like charisma and openness.

Cancers like hard workers, but if you seem closed off she might think you’re arrogant.

I'm definitely a bit closed off, but are not arrogant. I can open-up but are not the one who start. I never asks about life outside work (I'm always afraid I will be intruding), and rarely talk about mine either. Should I ask her more about her personal life? Maybe about her kids? And should I start sharing more about my personal life too?

I do remember this one moment where she complimented my purse and said that it must be expensive. I said no it wasn't but she said I don't have to be humbled bcz she knew that I'm a purse collector and everyone in the office talked about it. I NEVER hear any convo about it or told anyone that I splurge on purses except for one other workmate who has seen my closet. I'm assuming my boss participates in office gossips talk too then?

Always be willing and open to help her whenever she asks for it. In short, Let her know you're there for her.

I got her back, and held her high as much as I can. Always keeping her and the company in mind when I represented them. But after office hours, I can be a little bit unopen if its not an urgency and not my direct responsibility. I also notice that she get offended if I don't pick up her calls right away after office hours, she would ask someone else to pass the message to me and wouldn't receive my call after that until we meet again in the office. Are cancerians like this? I'm afraid it could become a problem for me. And should I be more available from then on even though I professionally got her back already?

I have a cancer boss, if you make her life easier by excelling in your job and doing beyond, she'll notice

Thats a bit comforting. While I don't need validation, sometimes I'm unsure whether my boss notices me doing beyond because I don't brag or look for her extra attention. I wonder sometimes if I should say anything, but so far just keeps my trust on her.
