They struggled to get out what they wanted to say to me and kept on doing preemptive phrases (I'm not trying to sound bad" .."I'm not trying to say this or that, but...")
It was awkward to watch, from my perspective.

I was AWKWARD to watch squirm and struggle to talk to me about clarifying about what I was doing for a project we're working on together.
Arms and a blank expression = Anyone talking to you struggling to get it out.
Or am I wrong and this is just a weird ass incident?
