After yesterday thought I'd brush up on some basics -.-

have you ever tried to do multiple light sources? I bet it takes forever
I need to set up the picture prior - kinda like what I did in the sketch but a bit more in detail so I know the underlying form unless I have a reference on hand of whatever I'm doing. I find human figures to be interesting so you'll find me drawing more of that than anything else since objects you can pretty much guess lighting.

slow progress day, it's in colour I've just greyscaled it for tonal checks
another slow progress day. Well actually I think it's pretty standard time to flesh out a rendering. Went back and added details coz I skimped on them and realised I couldn't do a decent rendering without some shapes and forms and most importantly... details... I hate details.
It's also painstakingly obvious where I've fucked up on perspective when you start visualising some forms -.-
aaand last check for the day, base colours done. This is good I don't usually spend this much time anymore on these types of illustrations, thanks again for the motivational thread.

Mainly it's wanting to create something, a story, a piece of illustration that I had an idea for, could be one off like this, could be a character, could just be expression of style of lines, colours, shapes etc. I mean I look back and thing the many ways I've failed, even now looking at the dva pic I can nitpick all day but as long as the idea I wanted is put in practice that'll continue to motivate me to create new things.
Sorry I'll take upfront picture next time.
This is just me working on color values
and painting "directly" mostly instead of indirectly (glazing/layering).

sketch for the day (dw really it's just a sketch). Just weird it's like I can't draw female forms anymore just looks odd to me. Spent too much time doing weird perspective drawings in the past and now I can't do a standard one xD

It's watercolor and acrylic...and the black i'm adding is a gel ink pen.
I took the paint n put it directly on the canvas paper...then used small, torn up pieces of cardboard to move it around - f brushes sometimes lol. I've done this style several times and I love the lines n colors 🙃

Yeah it's Yuna from ff10! Also for Tifa I think think of 2 particular things.
But you know dA is infested with that kinda stuff, all kinds of fanart on that thing.

here is a base drawing I was doing for the watercolor sketch I'm about to do again.
I couldn't help but explore the drawing in a more comic book style before
going more into a realistic (i hate that word) approach.

Yeah there is really no other way, we are not getting people lining up at our door paying us for it, so we might as well do it in the way where we get what we want out on the page. It's a good way to keep my sanity. And one way or another you will see it in the end.
