Never been in cold weather

Will be for a month or so for the first time this year, like possible single digit (F) temperatures with little daylight as well.

I literally do not own anything warm. I've already been told a coat (but what kind?) A hat or cap that can roll down over my ears, gloves... What do you guys recommend?

Alaska? You need to make sure it's insulated and get long John's or long underwear. Since you have never been in that type of cold, it will be harsher for you. A hat, gloves and scarf for sure. Heat escapes from your head. Thermal socks too.

Dress like an onion - multiple layers keep you warm and are easy to take off when it gets too warm for you. Wear something under your sweater

Warm cotton coat, scarf, warm cap, maybe gloves, warm socks, water restistant shoes will give you warmth

It gets below zero where I live in the winters.

Jackets that have some sort of fleece inside work well to trap body heat in. Cover your head as best you can...hats definitely should cover your ears. You lose lots of heat through your head so hats are important if you will be outside for extended periods of time.

I like the gloves/mitten combo. Hard to explain let me see if I can find a pic. But you can drive with them on, or check your phone, etc but when you want they can be mittens n keep in the heat.

Boots, or at the very least thick socks. Layering will be your friend!

I dont think I'll be in any actual snow and it'll still be an urban environment, think chicago or NYC type. And I'll be working most of the time so that is good, but I've been told it'll be unlike anything I've experienced, haha

I mean there willl be snow outside and on the roads, I just wont be running through it as if I was hiking or something

you don't want to be caught without the proper gear in cold af weather - it's nothing to fool around with

You will definetly need gloves. And make sure, that your feet are warm and dry. If they are wet and cold,

the entire body will freeze.

I recommend getting your coat from the state that you're going to be living in. I thickest coat in Texas wont help someone in Michigan stay warm.
