anyone here have experience with weekly fasting for 48 hours? i'm trying to incorporate a bit more into my intermittent fasting routine and wanted to know peoples experiences

Fasting is really good for the body, not sure why some people are saying it’s not.

Are you aiming to fast the body for 48hr straight? If you want long term benefits it’s easier to train the body by doing longer fast (5 days) but eating nutritious meals by the end.

Also you would know your body the best and might be a good idea to talk to your doctor as they’ll know your medical history and can advise better.

Personally I unintentionally fast... as in I’ll eat my dinner at 6pm after work and then not eat anything til the next day around 8-10am, on the weekends I don’t eat till midday.

A colleague does intermittent fasting similar to me, eats dinner at 8pm and break fast next day around 2-4pm.

I pasted below on something I’ve found online, might be of use:

Fasting Improves Your Immune System

Intermittent fasting improves the immune system because it reduces free radical damage, regulates inflammatory conditions in the body and starves off cancer cell formation.

In nature, when animals get sick they stop eating and instead focus on resting. This is a primal instinct to reduce stress on their internal system so their body can fight off infection. We humans are the only species who look for food when we are ill, even when we do not need it.

Am not sure if I'd want to commit to a 5 day fast I feel like maybe someday but not yet. I am incorporating 48 fast because I do want to give my body a break to do its thing as oppose to constantly dealing with digestion. On a day to day basis I do IF/OMAD I tend to fast for 20-23 hours a day and have one meal a day.

I haven’t done 48 but I’ve done like 20hrs. I have been really successful and dont really get hungry. I do drink unsweetened herbal tea, black coffee and tons of water while fasting though.

Same, lately I've been obsessed with the I Love Lemon decaffeinated tea. I added two bags and 1 green tea bag in a 16oz placed some cold water and then ice and then filled it to the top with water. I drank some and added AHA! orange grapefruit seltzer into the mix. It's delicious!

It sounds refreshing and delicious!

Sounds like you know what you’re doing, it’s the 5:2 diet of two days fast and 5 days normal. Also it’s easier in the summer especially if you’re getting quality sleep as we tend not to get that hungry.

Good luck ☺️

I do 14/10 or 16/8, depending on the day and the time frame before. My body is used to eating first thing in the afternoon. I have so much more energy right in the morning that I would rather use to stay productive. Once I break my fast, my energy levels plummet and I go into digesting mode.

Same, I feel food slows me down a lot especially at work.

Yeah it really does. I always break my fast with fiber and healthy carbs like fruit, oatmeal or yogurt so I still have some energy. I hate that dragging feeling when I have stuff to do. Dinner is my heaviest meal before heading to bed, it helps keep me full in the morning all the way until the afternoon.

Weird that’s exactly what all of us do at work, we have to fight it out on who’s having late lunches between 2-4.30pm mind you we all finish at 5 😆 and if there’s a meeting taking place in the afternoon then we’re fucked 😂😂

All of us are into heavy dinners, helps us to sleep better and not be hungry the next day.

Agree it’s better to slowly come out of the fast with a light nutritious meal that’s easy on the digestion.

I fasted once lol

My Taurus moon fell into a horrible depression so I won’t be subjecting her to that again 🥴😀

In my defense I do drink lots of water and eat lots of greens and fruit and no junk food or booze

Lol

How many consecutive days did you do it for? It’s more of a life style than a crash course as I don’t intentionally fast

Sleeping is already doing most of the work, we’re just prolonging it.

And I love food and that the best part of looking forward to dinner in the evening.

Yes 3 days

More of experience gainz than anything

You notice how much you are not really hungry but eating just out of compulsion

And how much energy you actually have

The worst is when you get back into the habit of eating whenever or however many times. I will try to at least fast 13hours on a bad day but I try to stick with 16-20hour fasting. I don't like feeling full at the time it's not a good feeling so now I'm back on track and have noticed even if I had an early dinner and it's been 16hours I'm not hungry yet.

I practice intermittent fasting every Friday-Sunday for 48 hours. My last meal is on Friday evening around 8 PM then I stay solely on water and 1 cup of black cloffee the next morning, till finally breaking the fast on Sunday evening around 7 PM.

This has helped me massively giving me better digestion and a boost in overall appetite.

I tried to stick to it but it only lasted for the summer of last year, I just found it difficult i'm trying to incorporate it again but what kills me is I love coffee and I would prefer to have my cup with some oatmilk and lil bit of sugar. I like black coffee by itself but I don't love it so all day I'm thinking about the works.

Up to you

Probably is great for stomach health purposes

But you should know that fasting slow your metabolism down

prolong fasting may but there's a happy medium, I think it's why it's advise to do 16:8 just like when one eats less than 1200 calories or too little for someone's tdee, that too can slow metabolism
