If I remember correctly, the FDA wouldn't approve Aspartame for a long time, then Hayes approved it and not too long after that left and joined public-relations firm Burson-Marsteller as a senior medical advisor. This firm did public relations work for Searle, who published 15 aspartame studies. I smell conflict of interest.

Either way, I don't trust aspartame as far as I can throw it. Glad Diet Rite has Splenda in it, instead of Aspartame.

Yeah I have known that for a long time as well. I avoid anything with Aspartame including yougurt lites. I would rather eat more calories than subject my body to that crap.

BTW - VirgoHero I think Dr. Mercola writes some of the best information on health and wellness. I subscribe to his emails and I have learned so much of what he writes. I would recommend subscribing to his website. http://www.mercola.com/ I am also a big fan of the health ranger @ Naturalnews.com

Thanks for the read VH. Had to eat like a diabetic with two pregnancies. Since I'm not a fan of anything that doesn't taste natural ( or even soda in general, rarely drink it ) it was very easy for me to just stay away rather than aclimate myself to it.

Everyone I knew tried to get me to drink diet coke :/ and my mom's associates at her job thought she was a loony-bin (she told me so) for not taking any of this stuff in. My Grandmother (mom's mom) drank it and other family members do but my mom was/ is in healthcare so she knows.

Having a mom in the healthcare field sucks LOL she's always on my case about something or another.

I am typing from my phn so I cannot share the link. Google diet soda and gulf war syndrome. What happened was diet soda say in the heat in the dessert and the aspartame turned into formeldahide (sp?). Nasty stuff!!

Ahhh found the article....

http://www.aspartamekills.com/mpvalley/index.htm

It is sicking.....men and women are risking thier lives for their country and it is not the war that will kill them but this disgusting product that the FDA has approved as safe. This is one example why I don't trust anything the FDA approves. Hell they approve animals being ingested with hormones and GMO products to be sold in our stores. I am telling ya that is why we are seeing a rise in disease because our foods are one big science lab.

I was drinking some Splenda drinks for a while, but they always stall my weight loss, so I've been drinking some Diet Dr.Pepper and also been monitoring my health. So far I'm not seeing any problems in my health and my weight loss has been going along splendidly. I also did an (admittedly) shallow amount of research on it on both sides and I can't say I'm convinced Aspartame actually is dangerous. There's a lot of hype out there, but I'm having trouble finding actual peer-reviewed studies that conclusively show Aspartame as having disastrous health effects.
