Posted by NostalgicCappyThat's very bad.. My heart sank as I read this.
My 5 year old daughter has type 1 diabetes. She was diagnosed at 18 months old, she was acting very lethargic and her eyes were very sunken in, when she didn't get better after taking her to the Dr, and he put her on antibiotics thinking she was just having a stomach bug, I took her to the ER and her blood sugar was 1100, and they had to airlift her to a children's hospital to treat her. She has a lot of food allergies, and she has a maximum of 45 carbs per meal and 15 grams a snack, She has her blood sugars checked 4-8 times a day and insulin 2-4 times a day, her normal range is between 80-120. She's doing well and as long as it's managed she is her regular self. Although, we've had some scares when she went low and had seizures, but ever since we found out what caused them, we changed the insulin units we were giving her and she hasn't had any since. A day at a time, really.

@NostalgicCappy -- no problem thankyou.. 😢 🤗 .. I'm doing well.
That's nice and reassuring for you that there's a nurse... Little babies having such a horrible medical condition.. Universe is unfair. Health problems to anyone are unfair but such small kids. so bad...its the age where we would want to eat this/that and be free..... Your daughter is a strong soul and so are you! Blessings your way NC.
Take care of yourselves and school will change her life only for better! 🙂
Posted by SensitiveBluesI try not to get into the debate regarding which is worst. They are both diseases that require medical attention and patient's compliance to keep the body functioning well. The bottom line is that either type suck; the cost, emotional, and physical factors make having either of them unfortunate.
my mother has had diabetes most of her life. she struggles with it more now, but she's always has been lucky with it
the worst is Diabetes 2, i shadowed a surgeon, and they were talking about how many amputations they do
and they do alot
i assumed it was diabetes 1, but nope most are 2, cause 2 ignores the signs and never adjust
eventually body collapses.

Why can't you be here right now so I can attack you with hugs Rumi? Hehe..
I'm happy to hear that you are doing well, really puts a smile on my face as you deserve all the happiness in the world my dear.
Thank you so much! Yes, she is my tough little Cappy girl and the bravest person I know. When it's time to do her shots, all she does is ask for a hug and kiss before and then lets me do it. She's very sweet, but also very serious for her age and won't ever let anyone see her cry. She cracks me up on a daily basis.click to expand

i'm not sure but i think with diabetes you're more susceptible to infection or necrosis

Posted by BullShita bit of light reading there. i'll watch the carbs and keep my weight at a slim 500 poundsPosted by HouseCleaningIt's not sweets friend-o, it also complex carbs. Sugar in this case wouldnt just be sweets it would be any type of carb in general. Your glycemic levels only rise when your body gets overloaded with carbs you should be eating less of or in moderation. For example: if you ate fruit thats a simple carb with a mono type molecular structure easy to break down and easily used for ATP, ADP, and cyclic GMP production. Meanwhile if you took a complex carb your body takes a long time to process and break it down i.e. white rice which would be considered a disaccharide if I'm not mistaken, syrups like maple and aunt jemima's which would would be metabolized slowly as well, bread in general is really bad if eaten every day due to the amount of weight and breakdown it takes for it to dissolve. A lot more as well. The point is, since these guys are so hard to break down your body metabolizes them slowly meaning they will get in to your blood stream slowly which means while you had lunch with all the yum yums by the time dinner comes around that food might still be breaking down and then when you have more yum yums for dinner that food will be needed to be broken down as well. SO in this case your blood sugar levels are slowly rising and will become rapidly upticked. I would start to find a diet that A) works for you, and B) your doctor agrees is good for YOUR body because we all to an extent metabolize differently due to genetics, exercise, and medical history. Good luck, my dad developed type II but fixed his diet and normalized.
my dumbass is on the road to diabetes if i don't cut back on the sweetsclick to expand

ya but diabetes 2 sneaks up on people, diabetes 1 once they've dealt with most of their lives so they can manage it better imo
anyways Nostlagic Cappy a cure is coming soon, diabetics generally have a bad time of it in hs and college, nobody is watching them
so you need to make sure sh'es on top of it when she's grown.
but yes they're both bad.
i think with diabetic 2 you can really treat it, by exercise and food management. Whereas 1 is just a lifelong problem
so ya you're right, they're both equally bad in different ways

Nothing..my dad's sugar levels have been going out of control since a few months... He was prescribed a higher dose in January and it was under control for a while and again its going out of control since a couple of days. We have an appointment today, most likely he will be prescribed insulin shots from now.. He lost so much weight, look horribly thin...he lost over 9 kgs since December and lost 3 kgs in past 1 month. Its alarming. yesterday his fasting was 170 and post-lunch was 250-ish.click to expand
