HAHAHA that moment is nothing short of down right HORRIFYING when your significant other truly says "I love you" and...you're not quiet there yet. Then your heart and mind races to respond, because you kind of have to, and most of us do have the propensity to try to be honest.
I distinctly remember hearing the words and time just slowed down to the point where every second was an eternity. I ALMOST did the "ohh thank you" or "Oh...that's nice of you!".

I am the same way... just a little taller... but girls have always commented on my shoulders for some reason... I wonder what makes them like it so much... It is not like they are going anywhere... I have met some girls that seem to be in to really thin guys as well...

This is how I dodged the "I love you" bullet but it may not work as well with a guy compared to a girl. Its like you said dimps, guys and their validation mechanisms.
-She says "I love you".
-That moment of silence in which I'm supposed to respond seems to last an eternity. Internally I'm giving the Vader "NOoooooooo!!!"
-I couldn't tell you how I came up with this but I playfully blurted out, "Yea? Tell me why? Tell me why you love me?". I COMPLETELY diverted lol.
This got her into expressing her feelings into words and I just kept furthering the discussion so I didn't need to actually response. One can keep a woman talking forever when you ask her to express her feelings. My inner voice saying "WHEW".
lol i remember how he was for the rest of the day too...trying to get validation. he told his daughters " i love you" ...no response [tough crowd] ....then he told his son "i love you" ...again no response...at that time he was persistent and was like " I SAID I LOVE YOU" ...his son was like " geeze dad i love you too!"
it was funny, cute, and sad at the same time. but i laughed...no lie

In my first proper relationship I was the first to say I love you and I think it was 2 weeks into us finally getting busy with one another. We'd known each other and a year and a half prior.Anyway I said it drunk outside the club on campus while we were rolling in the hay (quite literally). And she said it back.
Months later she admitted she was now saying it really meaning it, whereas at the time she felt she said it just to be kind.
The irony is years later I don't really feel I meant it one single time that I said it, now that I've grown.
Who what have ever thought three little words strung together in a specific sequence could have so much depth and complexity 😄
There's ABSOLUTELY a difference between meaning it from the depth of your core to just saying it to revel in the moment. Hard to tell sometimes.

You can get the same quality sports jacket for something like $ 200 if you're a smaller man, or may even find them for $ 150.

Was it tailored? I find it hard to find well fitted shirts and jackets in general. I think it's the shoulder problem others have brought up. I don't think mine are that wide but in relations to the body things fit funny if they come stock.

Um, my mother is African American, Native American, and I think Irish. She's mainly African American. My biological father is Jamaican, I don't know much else about his heritage though :/. Guess I'll have to ask him next time he calls.

I love you is pretty easy for me to say. It's not a high stakes thing for me. The question is whether I actually like them and enjoy their company.
I think one of the hardest lessons for people is...
It's easy to say "I love you" right after sex, when things are going good, or when you get something from your partner.
Try it saying it when your significant other is going through a bad time or when they are completely being an asshole / bitch.
That's the defining line in meaning those three words.
at first i was very uneasy about it. the first month we started dating i distanced myself and broke up with him a couple of times using the whole " you know im young and you are such and such age with three kids...i have a whole life to live, lets just be friends" but then as i got to know him more, and the kids more...i fell absolutely in love with him and the kids. i never in my life thought that i would ever be involved with a man who not only had kids but was once married. ever. but all that changed. it got to a point where i found myself seeking friends with people who had kids around their age so we can set up play dates, and looked for events around the area that was kid friendly that we could do outtings to. i started to see my future with them in it. when we broke up , it was uber hard. i caught myself saying " ooh yeah i have daughter who is that age"...and it was ...nooo...noo you dont. 😛 . you get attached. when you break up with them, its hard to severe the ties. its one thing to end it the guy you are in love with, its another thing to end it with his family. soo hard. i still keep in touch with them though. not the father. i teach his daughter piano on tuesdays. we have such a great bond and im trying to guide her to do great things in life with what i can without crossing boundaries

It's interesting because you never ever imagine getting involved in what I call a "Shake n Bake" significant other yet with the right person in the right circumstances, the person supersedes the situation. I'm glad you came up with a positive after the end of it all.

That's when I thought Americans should not have hard time saying I love u to a partner, since they say it even to their neighbor 🙂.. Now I know why, but it was very weird to me in the beginning :/
