Alot of people tried to be proactive. They were call the "Tea Party." But that was just demagogued as racist or something else and people dismissed it. Pity.

that's why you have to get involved.

alot of people let the same people take those positions over and over again because they don't go out and actually vote. some people still only vote during a presidential year.

I don't know about NY, but here in IN, we vote these people in and out of office....the school board, the superintendent, common council...etc.

Ok..would you believe I was thrown out of a recent BOA meeting? Yup..and here's the kicker. Only a handful stood up to what I was getting across right there and then. (I didn't raise my voice once either, I was communicating in my Scorp merc way in a nice even but detailed direct tone)...It was about the 5.3 million dollar budget (another increase in property taxes). After I was escorted out I went home. By the end of the night all of the cowardly assholes (the PTA folk, and bystanders) e-mailed me or left me voicemails thanking me for speaking up and they agreed with me.

So I fixed their asses, I showed up at the next one named every single one of them, had some choice words AGAIN about where the budget was going and but before they could throw me out had an exit line before and hung them all the peace sign. I got a standing ovation for that and will NEVER go back to a politically stacked bullshit meeting again!

The Tea Party was a spontaneuos movement that perhaps got usurped by the Right Wing. Millions of people from all walks of life spontaneously rose up to protest overspending and what we are seeing happening now in our country. The left jumped on it and mocked it as all racists ALMOST immediately. But if you look at the gneiss of the Tea Party--it was a spontaneous uprising.

Now what happened after and how normal Americans just became manipulated further on the path is a different story. At the beginning it was not political.

Stop buying all the shit thrown your way.

Yea..millions of people from all walks of life were spontaneously exploited is what that was. Those were people with HOPE. I looked into it before I jumped on that bullshit wagon, and I smelled greed. So now we should ask..where's the MILLIONS those people gave for that hope?

I also want to add...those MILLIONS of people were pissed off people. They took that passion and innocently poured their hearts, souls and MONEY into something that came back and bit them all in the ass. ENTER SHOCK! They went extinct because they were so goddamned embarrassed realizing they were exploited financially and that hope squashed.

The only way actions will speak in this country is a civil unrest. I still say the peaceful way to do it...everyone stock up at home..warmer summer months. EVERYONE STAY HOME FOR 7 DAYS..no electric, no NOTHING, no buying, no driving nothing. Wanna see corporations shit their pants? Shut them down for a week. Peaceful protest yet powerful. SILENT POWER...

The only loss my idea would cost is a weeks pay or use vacation/sick/personal time...whatever it takes. Could you imagine if everyone stayed home for 7 days in America? It speaks VOLUMES. I can guarantee you not one politician would be in on it either lol That's the best part.

Why do you think the Left jumped on it so damn hard? Because they were given just *so damn much* to work with. Shit, if I were a Democratic political strategist, it'd be like half-price day at Chuck E. Cheese's every day. Great ideas turn to crap when they fall into the hands of political (and social) extremists. In which case those ideas can no longer be trusted, because they'll get twisted into (in this case) far-right ideology.

Well, the Tea Party was a good lesson for many I'm sure, and an excellent eye opener on how greedy these bastards can be and what they will do to get to the top of the pyramid. DISGUSTING!

I have no doubt "I am Legend" is a great book, as I absolutely loved the movie. The Walking Dead happens to be a favorite...it took my friends FOREVER to convince me to watch it. I entertained them and did. Shit..I've sat through marathons to catch up and am hooked. It's one of those "what if"....thingys.

As a political critic, and as someone who's written widely on the "Manufacture of Consent" as well as elucidating the intellectual's ideal role as a responsible exponent of social concerns, he's one of the best intellectuals in service of what is far more truth than what you get from most of those who are a) right-of-center, and b) in service of the government.

Chomsky's "Manufacture of Consent" was only another vehicle to drive his agenda, which is not very popular in the US -- keep in mind that in addition to being a "political critic" he is also a political activist.

The best lies always contain a bit of truth, you know, and as an activist, he has a very specific agenda.

"More truth" is not the "whole truth"-- I'm not sure how you justify that to yourself, but yes-- I'm sure that of the two, Chomsky is more palatable.


And wtf at emphasizing "Manufacture of Consent" when you bought the media's hatchet-job of the Tea Party, hook line and sinker.

You apply that concept only when it endangers your own agenda?

My favorite Bullshit explanation happened on April 15 with this headline: Boston Marathon, Waco Texas, Oklahoma City Bombing all Happened--OMG!--in April. OMG they must be related!! Oh fuck!! lmao. Haha. WTF does WACO or OC have to do with the Boston Bombing--exactly NOTHING. Yet right out of the box this same fucking headline appeared in 11K websites! Yes, I said 11,000. These guys think we are stupid.

Did I mention that OC and WACO were mentioned with Boston 64K times in the same sentence on APRIL 15th. Sounds suspiciously pre-determined to me. What a load of crap.
