@Studel: Discrimination that pertains to the workplace or anything outside of the home are not only potentially punishable by law(the reason people can't do this with religion, race, sexuality, age, gender, disability, etc. & get away with it anywhere else), but are also a violation of many morality clauses in their contracts.

Sterling was already under fire before for discriminating OUTSIDE of the homefront by refusing to lease apartments to African Americans. That is legally AND morally wrong.

I get that he has rights, but so do others he interacts with. All people have the right to not be discriminated upon. And those whose violate or play Russian Roulette with those clauses shouldn't be let off the hook.

Should a school teacher be able to engage in a sex tape behind closed doors? Well of course. But when his/her students see it & it starts to affect the morale, the teacher gets fired. And legally, her termination is backed up by the law. Is what it is.

Anything you say/do will or CAN be used against you. Donald Sterling is not exempt of that. If he didn't agree with that, he should have never signed multiple morality contracts prohibiting spoken racism or discrimination of any kind. Freedom of speech isn't black & white. There's a lot of black tape & fine print there.

If Obama said he hated all whites & all gay people, people would want him out of office. No one would be standing up for his "rights."

If a U.S. military commander was caught ranting about & discriminating on disabled or religious people, people would want him out!

If Sterling openly (homefront or not) went on a rampage about hating women or offended half of his viewing audience that contributed to his success in the 1st place, he shouldn't be exempt from following his morality contracts just like everyone else. Everybody else has to. He should be no different.

Freedom of speech is legal but so are morality contracts.

Sponsors pulling out b/c of viewpoints that compromise the brand or offend the masses is also legal.

When you work for an employer or large corporation, they legally have the right to fire you or punish you for offensive clothing or for remarks that were made in front of 1 person (despite the fact that everybody else didn't necessarily hear it & despite the fact that the remarks were made "behind closed doors").

I feel bad for the guy.
He got trolled HARD by his girlfriend.
No one seems to care that hes not a hateful KKK type racist.
He is just a cranky old white man whose losing his mind.
You go to senior citizen home, 90% people are just like him.
They ain't hatin, they just OLD, CRANKY, DIRTY!
Get a grip OP. These crazy old people gonna be dead in next 10-20 years and it will be non-stop interracial party time!

So he's the victim for having a spiteful girlfriend?! Hmmmm, that's weird. I guess no one is paying attention to the fact that he's freakin MARRIED & had no business having a mistress to begin with!! And to flaunt her out in the public/media as if his wife/kids aren't watching!!!

Him being old doesn't justify his racism. Plenty of old folks aren't racist, so let's not pretend like old age is a precursor for racism. Racism is a choice, not an "age thing."

Get a grip eh? lol I'm not at home losing sleep over this. Just wanted to discuss it. As I stated in the beginning, I'm not surprised that he's racist considering his past. That still doesn't change the fact that racism on any level is still disappointing.

Soo he should be legally censured?

I'm confused about your solution to this problem-- what is it?

I think this is a case that boycott would take care of nicely.

Who would patronize him or his business, knowing what they know?

Actually, he's an old white Jewish man.

Ironic isn't it?

Seven Jewish Americans
Control Most US Media
From John Whitley

"Today, seven Jewish Americans run the vast majority of US television networks, the printed press, the Hollywood movie industry, the book publishing industry, and the recording industry. Most of these industries are bundled into huge media conglomerates run by the following seven individuals:

Gerald Levin, CEO and Director of AOL Time Warner

Michael Eisner, Chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company

Edgar Bronfman, Sr., Chairman of Seagram Company Ltd

Edgar Bronfman, Jr, President and CEO of Seagram Company Ltd and head of Universal Studios

Sumner Redstone, Chairman and CEO of Viacom, Inc

Dennis Dammerman, Vice Chairman of General Electric

Peter Chernin, President and Co-COO of News Corporation Limited

Those seven Jewish men collectively control ABC, NBC, CBS, the Turner Broadcasting System, CNN, MTV, Universal Studios, MCA Records, Geffen Records, DGC Records, GRP Records, Rising Tide Records, Curb/Universal Records, and Interscope Records.

The one thing that seems terribly disturbing, yet no one has the galls to point it out is that the NBA is punishing the dude because of the Media (LIBERAL MEDIA) and not because of what came out his mouth. Donald Sterling is a racist, OK...but this been known for YEARS! Only when media puts it on full blast do the NBA actually decide to take some action.

This sets a terrible example and it happens ALL the time! Anytime the Liberal Media criticizes someone, companies and organizations have to bend to the liberal media's will and do what they want.

I know the burden of proof would fall on the her, and at the very least there has to be audio of his acknowledgment that the conversation is being recorded.

I went to see if I saw any news media quoting that recording in the story, and I did find that ABC played a clips of it, and probably more. But it makes me wonder if those media outlets are liable for playing an recording obtained illegally.

Corp. Sponsors are pulling out faster than a dude who forgot his condoms. No bueno for bidness.

That's how it should happen too. We only seem to stand up for someone if they take an underdog good guy stance. You can't take away someone's right to be an asshole. Being racist isn't against the law, discrimination is. I'll admit I don't know all the details and if he broke some law then whatever.

He can say and think whatever stupid shit he wants. If I take offense to it, him, or his company, I won't support them. If this idiot doesn't want black people involved with his basketball organization, I'd simply comply. ffs, think about that for a minute. What more punishment could the owner of said team get?

Her story went something like-- he was forgetful, so he encouraged her to record their convos (really), which she did.

BUT... according to her, she refused to sign a confidentiality agreement that he didn't suggest until after multiple recordings.

You should not be allowed to own anything if you are THAT stupid.

I don't think he's THAT stupid.

So are they liable?

I imagine so.

I'd sue 'em.

I actually agree with Don on this.

The NBA didnt give two lousy fucks about Sterling being a lousy, racist ass slum lord for years. They didn't bother to care that his ass was being sued for that shit.

But oh shit...there's a TMZ post about it!

The rich white executives see the natives getting restless and don't want their cash cows to stop making them money...so NOW they do something.

Hypocrites. All of them.

Yet, there's an NFL team named the Redskins..but since it makes money off the brand and they're afraid to change it to something that might make less money, nothing is done. Where's the outrage on that? Unfortunately, Indians have been wiped out to the point where they don't have the political power to do anything about it.

sorry, I can't read that next to your avi, and not laugh. Actually its giving me giggle fits, I think I'm retarded.

My best friend brought this up today and while I don't feel offended by anything he said, I don't feel sorry for the guy being forced to sell either. The NBA chooses these owners as part of a closed league system. Which is something that'd never happen here, but in American they're fine with the franchise system. As an owner, you're set for life. You were probably already set before you were invited into the league, but now it's like you're going to wake up one morning and fans aren't coming to pay for your games anymore. You get security.

In exchange, the only thing you have to do is not be stupid or be caught being stupid. He did, so he's out. I think he's the last person in line to be able to appeal on humanity or grounds of rights. So business is all he has left, and it's a business decision.

I'm surprised no one is up in arms over the NFL making prostitution legal with the expansion of their cheerleading app for VIPs next season.

Agreed completely! Well said.

Lol@ people trying to brush what he said off as old man racism when he already said its a culture he's apart of...

Like recently when that black hockey player scored the winning goal against the bruins and the boston fans filled twitter with the n word so much that it became the #1 hashtag that day,lol...that's also why I laughed when they bombed them fags during the marathon

Some people are just inherently racist :shrugs: fuck'em
