Wineaux and I have a China man shop here in Houston that we love. Get this.... it's called www.beauty .....yeah that's it, no .com or .net. or anything, hahahahahaha. They have great costume jewelry for like $ 0.17 each and lots of fun makeup. I also get some hair products there..... Now, yes, I'm a whitey, but I LOVE anything beauty. Anything. So I want up in some of this chatter!!!!

I color, straighten, etc etc. Right now I am rocking a red and have been for the last several years. The shade of red varies as my mood does, but lately I've been doing a perm color first and then a demi over it to really pump up the sheen and intensity of the color..... which brings me to a question for my fellow China man store shoppers. What is a product I can get to use to really deep, deep condition my hair?

I don't know ANYTHING about black hair or the products used on it, but I'm thinking maybe this is what I need. In the last few months my ends and my roots have gotten rougher. I think it is because I have been over doing the processing lately.... it's just so damn fun! So is there a product you gals use that would work well for my hair?

Kenra moisturizing conditioner. I add a couple of TBSP's of olive oil and organic coconut oil to it, squish it in, cover it with a plastic cap and sit under the dryer for about 30 minutes. Really deep conditioner, smells nice and is great for restoring a great moisture balance to your hair. Given that your hair is different than mine, if I were you, I would just do the Kenra moisturizing conditioner with a TBSP of coconut oil and that's it, because all of the oil may be too heavy for your hair. Everyone's hair is different, so you have to play with stuff to get the right blends, but Kenra is made for all hair types; specifically for those with dry hair, and given all of the coloring and stuff you are doing, your hair would likely benefit from a deep condition. It makes the hair feel like silk 🙂 Good luck! For daily conditioning (especially since I recently started working out), I use (and I don't like cheap stuff, but this crap works) VO5 Moisture Milk Strawberry conditioner. It is very hydrating, smells divine and can be put on after you wash your hair in the shower, and leave it on for about 5-10 minutes, and it makes your hair nice and soft.

errr, ummm, it should be obvious, but you do rinse all this crap out of your hair 🙂 just an fyi, since I didn't specifically spell that out! HA!

Thanks! I don't have a dryer hood.... what's a better option? Wrap a towel fresh outta the dryer or actually use my blow dyer on a low setting?

You are welcome. My cousin is (was) a hairstylist, and my grand-mother used to do hair too, so I learned a lot from them. If you don't have a hooded dryer; just do the deep conditioner when you are going to be active around your house for about an hour or so. If you are doing house work, etc, you can do the dc, put the cap on and do your chores. Your body heat will naturally do it; also, the heated towel is an option too, but I find the activity for an hour is good, because you are accomplishing two things at one time 🙂

I always carry my own conditioner (Pantene "Relaxed and Natural" for women of color) to ensure my hair gets the "fortifying" treatment it needs. Don't too much trust their brands.

I love sitting under the steamer too, and when I get my hair blow dryed, I just have them do the roots. Helps keeps my ends/tresses healthy.

I always wanted to rock Red (not Kool-Aid Red like Rihanna) but more of like a wine. I did it years ago with a rinse called Jazzing and it looked great.

The China man beauty supply is the shit. It's like kryptonite to us Black girls, LOL.

The overprocessing will kill your hair. USCTaurusGal gave you some wonderful ideas, and yes, deep conditioner plus some heat can work wonders. I plan to purchase a steamer (one of the best inventions ever!) because it really helps to work the conditioner into the root.

In the last year alone, it has become really popular (and exceedingly so amongst White women)

The primary purpose of the treatment is to straighten frizzy, coarse, etc. hair. and you can either get it done at the salon or do it yourself at home, and they even have a "Blonde" formula.

My sister used to have a jheri curl and every night my mother would wake her up and give her a "whop!" on her arm because the activator would keep soaking the pillow case...now ain't that some shit? Although my sister begged her to get the JC, she was happy to oblige (and had the nerve to do it herself with the home kit...my mom that is) and then turned around and would give her a slap on the arm every night for something that was totally out of her control. I guess in her mind she was probably thinking, "well, can't take it out on the activator". LOL.

You go without wearing a bra? I could never do that! Well size does matter so like you said, having dense full ones can afford you that luxury. I'm quite top heavy so there is no going bra-less for me. No siiiiree!

Girrrrrl, my mom got every pot, spoon and fork in my kitchen!! She had me thinking I didn't need to go perm, which is why I didn't get my first one until my mid 20's!! 🙂

On the jerri-juice, you really didn't need alot of that activator, at least I didn't. The style looked very nice on me and, I only had to activate once every few days. Because that was my experience, I always thought all those activator skits were overblown.

On the bra, see, I'm not quite heavy, just a regular D cup (36D) so I can getaway. Soons I get home every day it's one of the first things that come off on those days that I do wear them. I'm such a friggin hippy!! 🙂

C cups are beautiful. Sometimes having larger breasts isn't always fun. I've been a DD for most of my teenage/adult life, and it can have its downs.

But all the while, if you have the funds and the drive, no one can stop you. It's your body and shall always be. Just make sure you find yourself a good surgeon. 🙂

I don't know about the study, but I do know that you should not sleep in bra and panties, which serves me well because I've been sleeping in the nude since I left home at 18. Also, all of that "they will fall if you don't wear a bra", it's not a fact, it's what they say. If they fall, it's not the bra -- perhaps gravity worked against the person for whatever reason. I am living proof of that b/c girl, had my breasts fallen to being droopy, no way could I get away without wearing a bra plus, I would ALWAYS want to wear one to keep those girls up!! 🙂 It just feels free-er when I LOVE FREEDOM!! 🙂

My mom is a riot and you sound like my cousins because they all "love Aunt Margaret". I remember one time not too long ago we were down south, she sat on a bench, the bench started to rise like a seesaw, which compelled her to say "quick, somebody with a big ass sit down on that side" and, someone did, but not without everyone busting out in a crazy laugh!!

As a side: When I was young, I didn't care much for having a "sizeable chest" because most men are "breast men" regardless of size, but some really get off on bigger tatas. Oh they love it, lol, and maybe since I could never bring myself to flaunt or entice like my friends did, I didn't really see what all the hoopla was about.

I use the chi on my daughters hair about twice a month. She has that really soft curly bouncy texture compared to my course texture. But I don't use over the counter hair grease at the store. I make my own by using raw shae, cocoa butter, pure olive oil, pure coconut oil, carrot oil and castor oil. I go all out for my baby so when she get older she will have strong healthy and long locks.


Im thinking about putting a weave in but the qutix remy. I know its expensive but I really want to try it. Anybody tried it?

I felt all three and told her I like the Boss the best. When the girl said it was $ 90 something dollars (which my daughter knew), my heart went out to her and I told her I'd buy the hair for her. I mentioned to the sales girl I don't have my ID (on the Avenue, you need it) and she asked me to speak to the boss. He tells me I can't charge it without my I.D. I told him I didn't come out to shop -- I didn't come out to buy hair but b/c it cost so much, I want to spare my daughter and pay for it for her, but he said no. Leos liking to get their way, I told him I guess you wouldn't understand what it's like to have a daughter then, considering you abort your daughters so that they don't out number your sons and then I walked off. Now get this -- my daughter hands her credit card to the guy (Chinese) behind the counter and he swipes it so fast -- he did not ask her for I.D.

The lesson I learned from that -- next time don't ask, just present the card and see what they do!! 🙂

The different hues ARE beautiful, which is why I wish folks who say they don't see colour should just stop it and revise that to say colour does not matter. Comparatively, the person with the birthmark on their face -- black or no pigmentation -- we see it but it does not matter. I saw a black man today, he had a no pigment birthmark on his face -- I SAW IT -- BUT IT DID NOT MATTER!!

I mean really, those same people who say they don't see colour DO see eye colour, DO see hair colour, even fawn over these things that appear above the neck on a person's body YET, you don't see the colour? What that sounds like to me is they don't see the colour because they associate the colour to something negative and to not appear negative, they say they don't see it. How can you not see something so beautiful. Colour is something that should be appreciated and embraced -- not flat out ignored -- nope, don't see it. Right??

Even on our non-black sisters -- they too come in different hues, all of which should be embraced and appreciated. First things first though -- in order to embrace and appreciate, you must first see.

I see, embrace and appreciate all of the colours in the rainbow of people on this earth, from the palest of the pale to the darkest of the dark, no matter where you come from.

My thing is as long as ppl don't get ignorant around me and start talking crazy I don't care if their willing to recognize it or not. My family has a blend of it all damn near. My moms dad is caucasian, my moms mother is hispanic. My dad side is haitian. We have Jewish, Welsch and something else. But when you look at all of us, you can see where some gene skipped the other. We embrace our backgrounds and all treat each other like hue-man beings. Even as crazy as we are with each other we dont get ignorant about the colour of our skin.

No, that's not the lesson I learned. The lesson I learned, because I surely did learn one, is next time I don't have my I.D. -- only a credit card -- *don't approach the owner on the side and explain -- just go right up to the counter and see what the cashier will do, because considering my daughter was not asked for her I.D. by the cashier -- the cashier just swiped her card -- had I not approached the BossMan first and just went up to the counter, the card swiped would have been mine with no questions asked.

Now, on the money talks thing -- had I been the bigboss, considering 2 packs of that Remy Boss hair is $ 180 before taxes, THE MONEY WOULD HAVE TALKED even though it was plastic money and, I would have told the customer that this time I will let her charge the hair without showing her I.D.

I would NOT have let $ 180 plus tax walk out my store!! 🙂

My daughter is such a friggin lady -- when I go out locally I take my purse (not wallet, just a change purse) with what I need in it. Not Aries is not like that -- according to her, a lady always carries her handbag therefore, she always carries her handbag.

I learned she felt that way a few months ago when we were going somewhere locally, or she was going to the corner to get her hair did by the Dominicans, and I mentioned "why take your handbag". Her answer -- a lady always carries her handbag. Guess I ain't no lady then!! 🙂 However, in the bedroom, I am because I'd never ever consider spitting!! lol lol

Is that a "mommy" thing? My mom as well as all of the other moms where I lived always carried change purses, lol.

Sometimes you want the freedom of not carrying a bag on your shoulder. Once in a while when I'm at work and run out for lunch, I just take my wallet but it sort of scares me because I feel like someone can just so easily snatch it right outta my hand.

I have to say though, I really hate it when I see women wearing those Fanny Packs...HORRID!

As of now, I've been laid up due to reinjury of a back problem (old car accident whiplash). Soooooooo, currently I'm considering hitting up a WHOLE different black market. Bring on the drugs!!!!!! I'd kill for a handfull of muscle relaxers right now....

i order my hair online. my sew in's costs $ 50 (partial hair out) so i can splurge on better hair. i dont get silky straight, i get hair that has a KINK to it. so it matches my hair better. i looks like permed black hair. not that straight as a board hair.

i just got a sew in done yesterday and i still have a headache cause its sooo tight. but it looks great.

i pay bout $ 50 per packet and i thought i was doing something lol. there is hair that ive been looking at that is about 100 a packet.

Boy I tell ya, my friends and I would always make dates to go to the China man (or Korean man?) shop. We'd stay in there for extended periods of time and just buy, buy, buy! i pay bout $ 50 per packet and i thought i was doing something lol. there is hair that ive been looking at that is about 100 a packet.

That's smart, DMV. I can't stand it when I see Black girls with that bone straight hair that you just know is a weave. I'm not saying you have to match texture exactly to texture - which I don't think is even possible but, at least get something that looks like it could actually be on top of your head for chrissakes.

I remember when I used to get my hair braided and it would be oh so tight and my mother would come into my room and see me on my bed damn near suffering and say - "why don't you just take it out?", and I'd say - "NO!" LOL. As long as it was cute, I didn't give a damn. It was staying!

Three days into the week and my feet are feeling like hot coals 'cause I don't own but three pairs of sneakers in which neither one I have worn in over a year, but I don't give a damn 'cause I loves me some heels!

Yeah I love heels too, but I only wear them occasionally to work, & when I go out for social gatherings. Other than that I have on my cute little ballet flats. I think I grew out of the "heel-wearing everyday" phase, lol. When I was younger I'd wear heels every freaking day!!!! Trying to look grown...you know. Lol, do you have an Louboutin's? I sooooooo want a pair but I'm already 5'7 & the heels are 5" & better & that's waaaaayyy to high for me. If I come across some fly mid-high heel ones, They're mine!!!! 😉

Hey girl!

I love ballet flats! Actually been wearing them these past two weeks 'cause it's been raining like non-stop in the city and it's been warm--like muggy warm, and I hate wearing rain boots when the weather is like this so I just put the flats on so that I can be comfortable.
