Narcissistic Personality Disorder

So, how many of you are in some sort of relationship with a narcissist? Whether the person is a family member, friend or romantic interest? How many of you are still interacting with that person, whereas how many of you realized how dangerous these people are and ran for your lives?

Being one or around a Narcissist isn't a bad thing you just ignore them they seem to hate that :3 with relationships gtfo RUN bc you are being worn down by someone who is self centered lets be honest.

Be careful! Charming at first! But narcissistic people will not help anybody but themselves that's the truth. I have lived with narcissists it tends too be normal for me since my father is one and my mother seems to date them but I think its just a personality thing.

Yeah, I believe you. One major red flag I have noticed is that they tend to have 5000 photos on social media accounts. 4,999 of those photos are selfies.

Yup. Dated many...pretty much ALWAYS borderline or npd. I have no contact with any of them as they are all insane. It was horrible and heart wrenching. Always pretending like they cared but instead they were totally self absorbed insensitive assholes who would gas light me and blame me for everything...flip out, be abusive etc. Wish there was an island we could exile them all to.

That, unfortunately, is what one ultimately has to do with regard to a narcissist.

Exile them to a desert island when it comes to your interactions with them, as they will only destroy the very fabric of your soul if you are not careful.

Several people here on DXP have unfortunately been through this, and can attest to just how dangerous these people really are.

I once read that if the narcissist loses power and control over you, then they will seek to destroy your character by talking shit about you and the people you care about.

I managed to fall in love with a narcissist (that was during the honeymoon phase). Shit hit the fan shortly after. Being with a narcissist equals psychological abuse. It's absolutely devastating and can have serious consequences for the non-Narc.

That's beyond rude! I think he was jealous you have a scorpio. He has scorpio envy...among other things. Funny that he's asking what narcs are like but he's just like one. One of the critical things that people need to remember around here is that there are several different things that a person can do when responding to a narcissist.

1.) Confront them head on, and put them in their places. Often times, this may or may not be a good idea. However, if the person is known to have violent tendencies, then this may not be a good idea.

2.) Refrain from contact with the person. Realize that a narcissist, like most human garbage, is usually not worth your time or energy. They are, in most cases, too far removed from reality to face it like most normal people do.

3.) Detachment is a slow process, but it can be done if you have the discipline for it.

I dealt with someone who had some very strong traits, but I don't think he was a textbook narcissist. I know his father was/is definitely one.. So he suffered being raised by him.
